Sims 2 Legacy resolution scaling off

Hi all,

I have had issues with the game's resolution being incorrect and being unable to get my in-game resolution settings to stick once the game was restarted, but with today's patch the resolution is still off (game is sized wrong and is cut off to the right side of the screen), and additionally the resolution options are grayed out in the settings. I have repaired and reinstalled my game, but this did not fix the issue, any ideas what it could be? Screenshots attached and PC Specs.

I fully agree with everything said above plus, the game will not scroll side to side. Just bought it, was enjoying it, not now. Will you EA, Please fix these issues? SOON! Thanks.

Well it looks like they came out with Patch 7 today (April 4). Their solution is a cheat that doesn't even work:

"The Sims 2 will now, by default, use a larger scale factor to produce in-game UI on screens larger than 1080. If a larger or smaller UI is preferred then the cheat code “uintProp uiScaleFactor” can be used to specify a preferred value. Valid options are 1, 2 or 3. The game uses “2” by default. This value can be set to be persistent in the “Graphics Rules.sgr” file located in “The Sims 2 Legacy Collection\EP9\TSData\Res\Config" (where this folder is located will vary depending on which storefront you purchased the game from)."

In what universe does one have to use a cheat code just to play a game? Also, in what universe does said cheat code not even work? Lol.

Right! I tried that cheat and nothing. I finally just bit the bullet and now change the resolution in my settings each time I am going to launch the game. That has seemed to “fix” the problem.

  • Two months on and this is still an issue. I've tried changing my screen resolution as a work around, and it definitely didn't help in the slightest. I literally cannot see small print. What was EA thinking?

  • Folks! I found the workaround! It was hidden in the patch notes:

    1) Press ctrl+shift+c to open the cheat input bar

    2) Type in "uintProp uiScaleFactor" followed by a space and then the number 1, 2, or 3.

The game defaults at 2. 1 is the highest resolution, and 3 is a 1280x800 resolution. You can also make the game open this "persistantly" by going to the “Graphics Rules.sgr” file. The pathing they suggest if you downloaded from EA proper is “The Sims 2 Legacy Collection\EP9\TSData\Res\Config" and they mention as a note in the note that the file location may change depending on which storefront you purchased the game from.

This is not a solution. This only changes the resolution of the UI, not the actual game itself. There is still no option to change the resolution.

Exactly. TheGoodRevBug, we already addressed how this proposed solution doesn’t actually work much earlier in this discussion.

EA_Cade , why did you mark this as solved when we already mentioned how this solution doesn’t work for many of us? I think romosim should be the one to decide that considering they are the OP. Can we please return this discussion to being unsolved?

Exactly. I unmarked it as the solution, as it is not fixing the problem for me or so many others.
