Sims 2 UC keeps crashing on W10

I've had the same issue with crashing and it's because Windows 10 isn't compatible with Securom at all. The origin version of The Sims 2 UC still contains Securom and that's why it's crashing.

EA got rid of securom in downloads for TS3 but you have to be on the 1.69 patch and maybe reinstall the game on download to get rid of securom. Not positive on the reinstall. I heard they now tied the sims 2 into origin but Im not positive. I downloaded TS2 before all these origin updates so I have the securom version but Im on windows 8. I. Dont know if a guru will answer but , if they dont try pming them and ask if they removed securom from TS2 UC @SimGuruDrake @SimStaffBethelle or ask @crinrict

No, Sims 2 UC still has SecuRom but as it's only the disc version that causes troubles for Win 10, it should be working fine nonetheless.

Also crashing issues are not usually related to this. You can't even start the game if SecuRom is the issue.

I don't have much experience with Sims 2 crashing issues though, so take this with a grain of salt.

Thanks crinrict. My son has windows 10 and skylake CPU. I installed ts2 uc download on there and it will run ,I ran a test but haven't played long enough to see if it would crash. Maybe Ill play it for a while and see what happens and report back . His bios is updated so maybe its a bios issue for some. Maybe their video cards are not updated for windows 10 or they upgraded their computer to windows 10 , their computers are older and wont support windows 10.

We had a repairman to fix our viruses on our computer earlier today and when we told him the problem he said something about the disk drive software, and how it needed to be updated because it doesn't happen with the windows 10 update.

You may need to update your bios, your video cards, Your computers may not compatible with windows 10. Also the possibility that when you updated to windows 10 it did not install properly and you might have to do a clean install.

skylake processors are an issues till (unless Bios updated) but it won't crash as the game will never start if you are affected by this issue. You'll get an error message.

I've been playing TS2 on my laptop which has Win10- it runs fine. I have it open for hours some days.

For anyone with this problem- I'd chat with EA Customer Service and tell them what happens when you try to play your disk game. They should give you the UC... might have to try a few times.

It is possible that they just left the more aggressive version of SecuRom that's contained with the disc version on the UC and not the one that they were using for Sims 3 downloads. If that's the case, then that's really bad cause basically, it could the same damage Sims 2 disc version does.

If you say a no-cd version of the game helped you, I'm inclined to believe that's exactly what they did so it's basically still the disc version which as you say, doesn't work with Win 10 and not the download version one that used to be in Sims 3.

I don't use Win 10 personally nor do I want securom at all on my computer. I strictly used disc versions on Sims 3 and never installed the UC.

I wouldn't get my hopes up for it getting removed, especially as you found a way around it.

I'm aware of that article but that one is talking about the DVD/CD Version of SecurRom and not ALL version of SecuRom. It probably depends on the version number of SecuRom. Unfortunately, reclaimyourgame thought it would be ok to remove their site, so all that info is basically lost.

As said, the one that used to be on the Sims 3 is not a problem on Win 10 and I kinda assumed they would use the same one for Sims 2 UC as this is a download version as well.

But them not changing anything and just leaving the one that was on the disc makes more sense, hence you had the issues you had.

I don't have Win 10 or TS2 UC so I don't know. I have Win 7 and have/use the actual CD/DVDs (Mansion and Garden) stuff pack to start the game. But I have not played TS2 since last October.

I'm not ging to installiert to find out what Version number it has and since Sims 3 was stripped I wouldn't habe a way to find out what number that has. Sorry
