The Sims 2 keeps crashing

I've only just bought the The Sims 2 + The Sims 2 packs and have tried to play it for an hour. The first time I tried to play the game it let me create a family and then it crashed. I restarted it again and managed to create a smaller family and played with it for 15 minutes until it crashed again. I'm so sick and tired of EA releasing things that doesn't work and I don't understand why I keep falling for the same trick over and over again. I was so excited to play the game which I loved to play during my childhood, but yet again, in the well known and expected fashion of modern day EA, the game doesn't work. STOP releasing games that doesn't work please. 

Is anyone else experiencing the same thing that I am? Please, tell me.

    Are you receiving the message "Application has crashed, application will now terminate" followed by the game closing? If so, I'm having the same problem and it seems lots of other players are having the same issue. I haven't seen anyone post a fix so hopefully it is something EA will be able to resolve. It's just so frustrating that they have no issue taking people's money but then rely on the community to fix their issues with no help from them.

    The Sims ! is having the same issue. I can only play the sims 1 for a hour then it crashed.

    Yeah! It just crashed on me during the first 30 mins. I was in create a sim :(

    The sims 2 kept causing my pc to completely freeze when I tried launching it after I purchased it, this happened about 4 times until I found a way around it. Then finally after about an hour I was able to get into the game and immediately after creating my sim the game crashed with a message saying Application has crashed, it will now terminate... After being excited and so frustrated with trying to get the game to work I gave up.. EA needs to stop releasing games and packs that are so broken they are unusable!! I feel like I want a refund with how frustrated I am with EA, but surely hope they work on releasing patches to make sims 1 and 2 work for everyone who spend money on those games..
