Incorrect Thumbnails of Items/Objects

Lately, I have been building several houses and editing neighborhoods, and as a result, I have identified some thumbnails that are incorrect for certain items/objects.

In the neighborhood view, it started to bother me that the "Oak Tree" thumbnails appear one way, but when I place them, their visual is completely different. It seems these objects have been replaced by others.

The same issue occurs when selecting the "Forest" items. The trees in this set do not match the images in their thumbnails.

Interestingly, we have another "Forest" item with the correct visual and thumbnail. However, its visual is identical to the others that have a different visual from their thumbnails. It appears this tree model has overwritten the others.

This issue also occurs in build mode when selecting fireplaces. The item "Blazing Wood Stove" has the same thumbnail as the "LaBohemmia Fireplace." There might be other items/objects with incorrect thumbnails, but these are the ones I can remember at the moment.

I hope this inconsistency can be fixed in upcoming patches. In theory, it should be a "simple" fix, but given the number of bugs the game has been experiencing, this simplicity is uncertain.

  • I have identified another item with an inconsistency in its thumbnail. The "Row of Trees" has the same issue as the other trees I mentioned in the post.

  • In the Sims Legacy folder, try deleting the cache files and thumbnails. When the game generates new ones, are they still wrong?

Even after deleting all the content from the folder, the problem persists. I've tried restoring the game via EA Play and nothing works; it must really be a bug with the thumbnails.

  • I recently installed The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection and noticed that it still has the same bug I mentioned earlier. It seems to be an old bug that EA never fixed.

  • It's been like that since the original 2004 release and they never patched it, although they should since this is supposed to be a "definitive" edition of the game.

Right clicking on thumbnails while holding ctrl should refresh then too and make the bug disappear, however you need to do that everytime you delete the documents game folder.

I wish they would replace these old tree models with better versions more appropriate for a 2025 release tho, they are so ugly from lot view.

I confess I was expecting more from these releases; I was very disappointed with the excessive amount of bugs and the poor visual quality on 1080p and 4k monitor resolutions. At the very least, EA should have delivered a remaster, but instead, we received a completely fragmented game—very sad.
