Okay guys.. I have a question.. I am one of those micromanaging sim mums who will literally pause the game every time I get ready to queue up actions so no time is wasted and my sim never does anything without my knowing it (Very type A) and because of that I have never dared to switch active households because I don't want them doing things while I'm 'gone' from that household and ruining my storyline. However, I have almost all of Twallan's mods and I have heard that using those you can heavily control what your other active household is allowed to do or not do. Can someone tell me what options are best to choose and where to find those options if I want: My non active household TO: Continue improving skills Continue going to workKeep mood lets highNot let pets be taken away NOT to Form any new relationshipsNot to break up any relationships they already have Not to get romantically involvedNot to quit their job and randomly go do .. something else. Then, After I've set all the options as you guys recommend, how do I go about changing my active household and how do I get it back. And when I go to make my new active household how do I get back into CAS to create the sim for that one (either legally or through mods) THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

NRaas has a page for rotational play. It relies on StoryProgression cast settings. See here. There are explanations for 2 different approaches. I think you should be able to adapt one of them to your play style.I'm too much of a micro manager myself to ever try rotational play like that. I have thought about playing two households in different worlds vy Traveler, but apparently you lose wishes when switching that way which was a deal breaker for me.

@Beck1590 - I've been playing this way for years (no surprise) with 2-10 households per world that I rotate through on a regular basis. A couple of my preferences are a little different from yours, but although complex the SP caste system is very flexible and can be adapted as @TreyNutz says to suit your needs. For example, I don't want "my" inactives, just the protected ones that I am playing myself, to skill up in my absence and I don't want them aging either unless/until I am playing them actively again. Others have different preferences here. Inactive sims will always be pushed to go to work/school. How well they do there may, of course, be a different story. :) Don't worry about the moods and moodlets of sims you aren't playing at the moment unless they are on-screen and your actives are trying to interact with them. Their moods will rise and fall, if they have a good home environment they will tend to the high/elated side much of the time because they will be surrounded by mood enhancing objects and sims when they aren't in semi-hibernation, and the game itself will take care of their basic needs until you wish to play them again and rotate back in.Let us know, here or better at NRaas on our message boards, if you have any questions about the Rotational Play setup. I think what Sarah means is that she has adjusted her Relativity settings so sims skill slower. I don't know what settings she uses though.What does setting the speed on "Snail" ...City Hall>NRaas>StoryProgression>General Options>Adjust Speed>You have 5 choices: snail, slow, default, fast, rabbit. NRaas SP has different managers which run periodically to progress inactives. The Adjust Speed setting changes how often these managers run. I use Slow or Snail mainly because it reduces the performance hit to the game from SP. I'm not sure how, or if, this setting is used in when playing rotationally. You can adjust each individual manager to run more or less often in city hall>NRaas>StoryProgression>General Options>Options: >Speed. AFAIK the speed setting is the number in sim-minutes between each run of the manager. The Adjust Speed setting is an easy one-click way to slow down or speed up how fast NRaas SP operates.

Excellent! :D Also can you PM me the setting in the W mod that I'll need to have to allow my sims to interact the way you mentioned yours can do as long as you're controlling them even if they're in my no romance caste? That way I can make sure I have that setting toggled correctly. Thanks for walking me through my first rotational play set up!! This is going to be fun. Now I can actually follow my families so they'll last longer than one generation!

Thanks guys!! This is super helpful! Though I'm realizing I had a blonde moment. The whole reason I wanted to start a new active household was to make a partner sim for mine to fall in love with and be able to play out their lives before they meet.. problem being.. lol If I set it so my inactive house can't fall in love with anyone.. then how in the heck do I get them together? Because if I take the setting off I'm a bit concerned my inactive sim will go wind up with some other sim and then my plans will be kinda messed up lol. Recommendations?

Like Sarah I’m allowing aging with the lifespans highly risen

But she has this option

Death: Push Chance = 0 to prevent sims dying prematurely

but I don’t see that in my caste settings.

I DO have cumulative chance of death: - can I set that one?

If I’m letting them age as she does do I need this option to keep my sims in my controlled but inactive household from dying!? I definitely don’t want to come back to dead sims.. I’ve seen mentions of “another” mod I need to install to get this option? I’m not sure. Please explain.

To change the speed of NRaas SP, you go into general settings. I usually set it to snail. The '1x faster' comment for SP doesn't ring a bell. Are you sure that's not from Relativity?

The Death: Push Chance is in town options, and sim options (on an individual sim). I don't think it's a cast setting. It might be a household option as well; you'd have to click on the map tag of the lot>NRaas>SP>Household and check.

@igazor I wonder if you are doing something different than I do. If I choose a future husband for my sim from among the residents, when I start a new game, I always give him sim settings that disallow romance. But when I decide it's time for my sim to get involved with him, I have to change his settings or the only romantic option available for my sim to do with him is take a romantic selfie. As soon as I change his settings, my sim has the full menu of romantic options.

@igazor and @TreyNutz - okay so if I want to allow aging but have my sims have gargantually long lives similar to Sarah so I have time to play each one several times but they do age.. but I DON'T want them to wind up dying prematurely.. what on earth would I choose in my caste settings?

She mentions slowing down skilling what is this and how does one do it?

What does setting the speed on "Snail" do to it @TreyNutz basically I never understood what it means when it says this: It says the following every time I start a new game or change age settings.

What does this mean? It’s done it ever since I installed NRaas and I just ignore it because I have no clue what it is or what it means but it would be helpful to know.

@Beck1590 - Death Push Chance has nothing to do with aging. Its concern is with the SP Personality scenarios and the chance an inactive sim can die of injuries sustained as a result of them. If you don't have the SP Personality modules installed (Cops and Robbers, Lovers, Meanies, etc.), you won't see it. And if you do, then yes it is also a Caste option in addition to Sim, Household, and Town.

Cumulative Chance of Death concerns the dice rolls that Elders already at or beyond their expected life spans have thrown at midnight each night to determine if they will die of old age later that sim day. Players adjust this only if they want their Elders to die sooner after their life expectancy than they do under EA standard. Regardless of any settings, sims do not die of old age before their Elder spans have completed and sims for whom aging is on still age one and only one sim day at midnight each night.

The speed of SP's progression has to do with how fast or slowly the various SP managers run their cycles, pushing inactive sims around and generating stories about them, progressing them in skills, careers, friendships, romance, etc. Normal is speed 3, Slow is 2, Snail is 1. If progression related things all around you are happening too quickly, or if you have a world with a heavy population and SP is dragging performance down (its careers manager can be very heavy-hitting), then we advise turning the overall speed of progression down to 2 or 1 and see how that goes. But there's no reason to change it if 3 (Normal) is working out okay.

"Time is now running at 1 times normal speed"
This has nothing to do with SP. This means you have Relativity installed but have not changed its speed from the default. By itself, this means the mod isn't doing anything unless you have changed its other settings. The default speed for Relativity is 37 (1 times normal speed). Many players change that to 19 (0.5 normal speed), I prefer things somewhere around 23. Relativity changes the length of time it takes sims to do things on-screen relative to the game clock.

Slowing down or speeding up skilling, meaning making it more complicated and taking longer, or less complicated and taking less time, for any sim including your own actives to skill up by performing tasks, is also a function of Relativity.
NRaas > Relativity > Apply Life Span Skill Factor > T/F
(This will make skilling up take much longer if you are playing very long life spans)

NRaas > Relativity >Skill Gain Factors
(There is a factor for each skill that can be adjusted individually above and beyond the Life Span factor if desired. Numbers less than 1 mean slower, greater than 1 would be faster. So if you want the Painting skill to rise half as fast for all sims in town than it already does while they are actually painting, set the factor to 0.5. For twice as fast, set the factor to 2.)

I can't answer why you are seeing that without mentioning a setting for a mod whose name begins with "W" that we are not permitted to discuss on this forum.

@igazor and @TreyNutz Thank you so much! You made all of that make so much more sense. Only one question left.

So you got me a bit confused here:

GAMEPLAY
5a. Before you rotate out of household 1 into household 2, put household 1 into the Rotations caste.
Click on the map tag of the household in Map View or anywhere on the ground of the lot, NRaas > SP > Household Options > Caste Manual > Rotations.
Checkmark twice to accept. The settings will flow down to all household members, for as long as they remain members of that household.

I did this. Put my household into the new caste and then went to edit town, switch active household, create a new household. I created my new household and put it into the world and I see this in my notifications:

Caste: Manual = 1

I'm not sure what this means and if I did it right. The Rotations caste you mention I named "Aspen's Caste" and I put my original household into it.. but I don't know what Caste: Manual = 1 is ... so is my new active family in the right caste? XD

Sorry for all the questions.. like you said.. rotational play is a bit.. confusing.

That's a possibly slightly delayed notification that you have just put your original household into the manual caste.

You're doing it right. Or the recommended way, anyway. Some players wait until a household becomes inactive before putting them into a manual caste for protection, but then forget or find in the split sim-minute in between getting around to doing that, SP pushes some things on them (they might move out or get new careers on you for example, or sell everything in their inventories) that were not wanted. I usually run the game clock for a few sim minutes, just a little bit, after putting them into such a caste but before moving on to another household or CAH even though that's probably not really necessary.

I've been playing TS2 style rotationally in y towns for at least four or five years now and have been using custom household cstes to stop inactive households from doing things I don't want them doing on their own.I've got tunings exported for my NRaas Mod settings and could share it though I'd need to share a lost of my Mods I use.I have 113 NRaas Mod files installed and my settings are geared for TS2 rotational play though it can be used for other types of rotational play on a smaller scale.
