ActiveX and scripts... The Sims doesn't work at all

Hi!

I have an Alienware: i7 4th generation, 16gb of RAM, 2gb of GPU, Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I installed The Sims 3 and several expansion packages. It had been working for a long time, but a month ago it stopped. Everytime I start the game, the blue control panel of The Sims displays a windows and tells me that ActiveX is not enabled. I tried to unistall Origin and all The Sims games with a powerful unistaller software, I updated every driver and every software but it still doesn't work. When I click on Play in the control panel, a black screen comes and the game crashes.

I wrote several times to Origin support and they never replyed me back.

Is anyone here with my same problem?

Thank you guys

  • ActiveX errors have to do with IE settings, I believe. Try messing with your ActiveX settings this way:

Control Panel > Internet Options > Security tab > Custom Level... > Make sure "Enable" is selected under Download ActiveX Controls and Plugins

It might be worth a shot to just reset all your security settings for IE anyway. No harm in restoring IE to its natural, default state. 🙂
