Can’t download sims 3 expansions

I have downloaded the sims 3 on my Mac but when I go to origin to try and download the expansion packs I own there is no option anywhere.

there’s no extra content tab just a friends who play tab.

when I search the games up on the origin app it says owned and doesn’t give me an option to download just to view in games folder. Which brings me back to the sims 3 base game with no extra content

When I open the game its just the base game I’ve updated it and logged into my ea account to see if that helps but nothing happens

poease can anyone help me

  • @amyleigh03865  I saw another thread showing the same issue a couple days ago and flagged it.  But in that player's screenshot and in yours (and on my Mac as well), it's the 32-bit version of Sims 3 that's affected, not 64-bit.  Is there a reason you want to run the 32-bit version?  Older Macs and those running older OSs can't run the 64-bit version, but if your Mac is a 2012 model or newer and runs at least High Sierra, you can play the 64-bit version instead.

You should see two versions in your Origin game library, one that says 64-bit on it.  If you don't see that second copy, you'll need to contact EA customer support and ask that the "entitlements," as they're called, for the 64-bit base game and any packs you own be added to your account.

@amyleigh03865  Okay, then you can't install the 64-bit version and need to play in 32-bit.  The issue you're seeing has been reported by a few other users recently, so I'll merge your thread with this other one once you see this (please let me know).

This is a problem on EA's end, so you'll need to wait for EA to fix it.  Hopefully that will happen soon.

  • Hi, I am experiencing the same issue except I am playing on a Max with the 64-bit version. I have been in contact with them literally three times and no helpful advice. For those reading this I have tried

    1. Restarting my mac
    2. Uninstalling and installing both the Sims 3 and Origins (The Easy and Hard ways)
    3. Deleted the cache
    4. Checked my downloads
    5. Checked my internet connection
    6. Cleared lots of space (even though I have a large amount of storage for these expansion packs)
    7. And just about googled and read every single similar forum.

If you couldn't tell I feel like I am losing my mind 😪. Really hope I haven't thrown away $120.00

@87abd9431996dd5e  Just to be clear, you're missing the categories when viewing the 64-bit version of Sims 3?  I still have the categories there (Expansion Packs, Stuff Packs, and also Friends Who Play), but not in the 32-bit version.  If you could post a screenshot, it would be helpful just as confirmation for whoever is looking into this.

  • Sure, good idea! Yeah the option isn't available for any reason, as you can see down the bottom they haven't been installed into the game yet.
