DLCs purchased through EA app won't install

Yesterday I purchased the Roaring Heights, Hidden Springs, and Monte Vista expansions via the EA app.  I went to TheSims3.com and registered the key for Hidden Springs there.

The content will not download or install.

  • Clicking the box on the website does not launch the launcher for the game, and of course it won't just give you a file.
  • Inside the game launcher itself, I logged in but my content is not showing as listed.  Because of this I can't download anything.
  • When I go into the game and open the Downloads Dashboard, I see a list of items I can theoretically download, including Hidden Springs and some other minor reward items (I have a plants vs zombies t shirt for my sims, for example.)  Any item I click, the status will change to "queued for downloading", but nothing actually downloads.  Meanwhile, since I am logged in the store is trying to sell me a golden wedding cake for 75 Sim Points.  Apparently it's able to at least push a "buy" button at me from the store, even if it won't push me my purchased content.

Honestly I just want a refund at this point - if content that comes off of TheSims3.com is inherently buggy for me that's fine, I just want my money back.  I contacted chat support and they told me to wait a few days because "it takes time for the payment to clear" (???) which I notice will put it outside my refund window.

So, now I'm here seeing if there's any way to fix it.  I have already completed deleted and reinstalled my EA App as well as all of my Sims 3 expansions, and the problem persists on a perfectly clean install.  Now what?

  • Doesn't work.

Tried Firefox to DL one of the items.  It pops up with a notice saying things like please make sure your game isn't launched, it will download and show in the launcher for the game, and so forth.

Short version is that it does not download anything.  Firefox has no popup blockers.

I deleted and reinstalled all Sims 3 content, which included deleting the WINE folder which had documents/EA arts in it.

    The problem persists.

    If it's a WINE issue that's fine, but I want a refund.

    Edited to add:

EA Support on the second round issued a refund - thank you, EA!

  • bugstophome  Please try a different browser, for example Firefox works well with the Store for most players.  And make sure you're not using a pop-up blocker.

If that alone doesn't help, move or rename the Sims 3 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts, open the launcher to spawn a clean folder, and try again to download one Store item.
