Downloaded Windows 8.1 now screen resolution is too small

I recently downloaded Windows 8.1 and went to play my Sims 3 game but now the screen resolution is too small. While playing the game I go to the option menu and try to increase the size of the screen and it refreshes but never changes the size of the screen. How do I get a bigger playing screen?

  • How big is your screen resolution on Windows 8 and what did you choose in the game ? What did you have before ?

DId you check for updated graphics drivers ?

  • I've got the same problem. I've tried making the screen resolution both in game and on my normal screen match, make them both smaller, bigger etc, and it either gets very squashed, or very stretched :/

Start with 1024X768 resolution. Then try higher resolutions. The Windows 8.1 upgrade reloads the video driver and resets all the settings.

  • I tried all of them and nothing worked. Checked my graphic card driver and that's up to date too. Any ohter ideas?

I've had this problem since yesterday when I started playing sims 3 on my new latop. I looked around on the internet and found a solution which has worked for me!
Basically, right-click on homescreen (to get the list of options come up) click 'screen resolution' and from there fiddle around with the resolution options. I had sims 3 minimized whilst doing this, and flicked between the two to find a resolution that would stick!
The only problem I had with it, was that that coundown to revert was only a few seconds long, so be prepared with your finger on the enter button to select it!

I hope that made sense, I'm terrible at explaining! Enjoy! 🙂
