Game Crashes

Hey yall, recently been having a problem where I click a save to play and it loads but then my game crashes, or if I'm in a world and I go to select my household it would load and then crash. Anyone know why this could be?

  • herbalbrewedtea  Does this happen in a new save too?  Please test for comparison's sake.

If the new save is affected, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

If the new save is fine, please save your progress, quit, restart your computer, try to load the save again, and let me know whether it works.

  • Hello! yes a new save is also affected. I actually have a macos rather than windows. Let me know what you think it could be, I've attached my hardware overview.

  • herbalbrewedtea  Please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs, that is if you can get that far.

If you see iCloud Drive redownloading your folder, or restoring it to its previous location, or anything weird like that, let me know.

If you don't see that but the above doesn't help, please try again, except with your computer offline.  You can sign into the EA App and put it in offline mode, then disable wifi before pressing Play.
