Can you launch your other saves? Does everything else work?

Go to documents : electronicarts : sims 3 : saves and you'll see the name of your save ending in .sim3 and also another one ending in .sim3.backup

  1. rename the .sims3.backup to .sims3.xyz or something random
  2. rename the .sims3 to .sims3.backup
  3. Now rename the .sims3.xyz to .sims3
  4. Try play now

Basically what that does is it restores a backup. Generally it's the only way to fix your issue.
