Major Sims 3 bug: Sim still does action even if cancelled

Hi I am playing the Sims 3 on PC, purchased via Steam.

My problem here is that when I cancelled my sim's action (teaching my toddler how to talk), both sims still communicate regardless and my sim will not proceed to do the next queued action (use toilet). the game says that that action is already cancelled. The cancelled action is marked with an X but the action is still there.

I have another sim (my sim's husband), where i can still control that, however when i cue him to do an action involving the other two sim (e.g- chat with my sim), he is unable to do so as my sim is still "teaching my toddler how to talk" despite the cancelled action. every other feature of the game works as normal. My game is saved right at this moment (when it crashed) as moments after i learnt that my sim will pee herself, where at this moment my sim's bladder bar is still yellow (not empty)

I have contacted the live person help where he asked that I post it here in the forums so a developer would look- i hope we can find a solution to this too!
