My game is crashing (windows 8.1)

I'm running Windows 8.1, and my game semi-consistently crashes about 10 minutes into playing. It will be running, and then I'm sent back to my desktop and an error message comes up - "The Sims 3 has stopped responding". It closes it, and then nothing is saved. I have a few expansion packs, and no mods.

Any help?

I have disabled both custom content and full screen mode, but it still crashes.

    I'm running Windows 8.1

It crashes spontaneously, but more often in Edit or Create a Sim.

With my custom content on, I can run it for 5-10 minutes. Last night, however, after I disabled the custom content and full screen mode, I was able to play for about an hour before it crashed again.

I have Supernatural, High End Loft, Seasons, and Pets installed.

You only have an integrated chip and that only has 32 MB of dedicated memory. Did you lower all graphics settings to see if that helps ?

Are you playing in windowed or fullscreen mode atm ?

I have it set on the lowest possible graphics settings, and I'm playing in windowed mode. it's still crashing.

  • Are you willing to try a third party tool ? There's a tool called crash log analyzer (just google).

It's not a magic tool that can stop the crashes but it can give an indication to where the error lies. Just copy the errors you get to the clipboard and post them here.

This tool is not supported by EA so you'll be using it at your own risk
