Need help! Deleted download file in Electronic Arts folder

Can someone  please help me with my problem. I bought my Sims 3 on STEAM and downloaded it onto E: Drive. Then I started downloading custom content from the Sims 3 Exchange. Everything was fine, then I got a message saying not enough room in hard drive, and I got confused because I had heaps and heaps of space on E: Drive. But the stuff was being downloaded into C: Drive(Electronic Arts Folder). WHY ISN'T THE  ELECTRONIC ARTS FOLDER in the E: drive???

So I was stupid enough to go to the Electronic Arts Folder and cut the Downloads file to put it in E: Drive and now there is no more Downloads File and the game is not loading??

What I've done So far....

                                         -uninstalled the Sims 3

  • There are two electronic arts folder.

One is where the game gets installed. That's what you choose on installing (probably the stuff you have on your E drive). Then there's also a user file folder (where all savegames, downlaod, ...) go. This is always installed in your windows documents folder. If that happens to be on c, then the game will install the stuff on c as well.

If you want to change the documents folder, you will need to tell Windows where you want it. Just google, there are many instructions around the net.

Now to your problem: What download fiels did you remove and where did you put them ? What error are you getting and are you sure you didn't delete any installtion files ? Did you check your trash can, if the stuff is still there ?

I've tried looking online, but it's very confusing since I'm not a expert on computers, I find this stuff very confusing.

This is exactly what I did.

    Went into C: Drive

opened Electronic Arts folder, then sims 3, then a folder called downloads with all the custom content from the exchange store.

I cut the custom content and placed it in E: Drive

The Copied "Downloads" File is still in the E: Drive and I can access it, but the one in C: Drive is no longer opening up( Just says access denied)

Move the one from your E drive to the desktop then restart the computer and see if the game then loads.

    What's your operating system ?

Umm, this morning I went into control Panel, Programs and Uninstalled the sims 3

I did like you said put the folder on the desk top and restarted the computer. So now the game is just downloading from Steam, actually it says updating but it's gonna take like an hour or so

I have also changed the location of the My documents folder

When the game is finished downloading, do I keep the Downloads file on the Desktop or do I put it back into Electronic Arts?

Thanks for all your help so far

If you want to use those downloads, put them back in the user folder in documents.

Lol, the game has been crashing all day, very annoying. Do you think it's the custom content that makes it crash?
