Serious error

Hello,

I’m having trouble running The Sims 3. When I try to load a world (Starlight Shores or any other town), I get the error: "A serious error has occurred while loading the file 'Starlight Shores.world.' It is strongly recommended that you restart the application."

I have already cleared the cache, deleted the InstalledWorlds folder, reinstalled the game, and repaired it through the EA app. I also tried running the base game only, but the issue persists.

Please advise how to fix this.

Thank you

  • Vendy22399  Is OneDrive running on your computer?  If so, try pausing syncing.  To see the option, right-click the cloud icon in the lower-right corner of the screen, or perhaps hidden in the Tray (^ icon).

If that doesn't help, let me know about OneDrive, and also list the location of the Documents directory, as designated by Windows.  Search in Windows for Command Prompt, open it, and enter this command, starting with reg query:

reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" /v "Personal"

Please post the result here.  You can write [username] instead of your actual username if you like, but leave th rest intact.
