Sims 3 64 bit keeps crashing despite using lowest settings

My Sims 3 64 bit game keeps crashing on my Mac  2 minutes into game play and I've tried all the troubleshooting techniques EA has recommended such as reset origin, new user uninstall reinstall, safe mode. Literally everything and it still crashes.  I've put everything on minimum settings and it's still the same. I have all the sims 3 expansion packs installed except pets (Ambitions, Generations, into the future, Island paradise, Late night, seasons, showtime, supernatural, university life and world adventures) and all the additional worlds except Monte Vista and Dragon Valley

  • @Livzz1245  Have you disabled Advanced Rendering and enabled Object Hiding?  Both of these are on the same page as the other graphics options.  Be sure to change the settings at the Main Menu and quit to desktop before loading a save.  And if you're not playing in Sunset Valley, please try it and let me know whether the game runs any better there.

Please also list the full specs of your Mac: everything under About This Mac including the OS and except for the serial number.

Yes I have disabled Advanced Rendering and enabled Object Hiding. Sunset Valley still crashes but it at least lasts 5 minutes.

    My Mac specs are:

    Chip: Apple M2

    Memory: 8GB

    MacOS 14.1.2 (23B92)

@Livzz1245  Just to be thorough, please move the entire Sims 3 folder to your desktop (again, if you have recently) and allow the game to create a new one.  Repair the game in Origin before loading it.  When you're ready to play, put Origin in offline mode and then take your computer offline, as in, disable wifi.  Don't change any default graphics settings, except for the resolution and fullscreen/windowed selection if you want.  Start another new save in Sunset Valley; you can use premade sims if you prefer not to spend time in CAS.

Please do all of this together, and additionally, play with the laptop on a hard flat surface, or elevated with the vents unobstructed, so it has the best chance to cool itself properly.

@puzzlezaddict I’ve done that and the game has run for about an hour well. The only thing is when you zoom out there’s a red screen thing covering everything.

@puzzlezaddict It crashed about 2 hours into gameplay. This is the red screen I was talking about

@Livzz1245  Two hours is definitely an improvement though.  You can try playing with your computer online again and let me know how it goes.

For the red flashing, check the box to "Enable Object Hiding" on the graphics settings page, then quit and reload the save.

@puzzlezaddict Enabling object hiding fixed the red flashing. I turned my computer online again and it lasted just over an hour before crashing. I'm still only playing in sunset valley.

@Livzz1245  That's great.  Now you can try another world, or add back some other content, whatever you want to experiment with next.  But please don't add back everything at once—it's important to figure out what the problem is, if it's still present.
