Sims 3: Network Error: Connection to Server has been Lost

The other day I received an error message indicating "Lost Connection to Server". I have done everything possible I can think of to try to fix this. I went as far as completely uninstalling The Sims 3/EA APP and then reinstalling (yes, I saved my Sims folder). I followed the steps here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNCeXTZcB0c. This computer has the appropriate specs, etc. to run The Sims 3 with zero issues. I am not sure if it is an EA issue at this point, or if I am doing something else wrong on my end. If I turn off my internet, I am able to start/play the game offline, but it ends up crashing after a few minutes, so there is no point in playing offline either.

  • rockstarxspark  I didn't watch that whole video, but the usual first-line fix for a blank launcher is to clear Edge's Internet Explorer-mode data.  If that doesn't work, delete Windows temp files:

    • Click Windows key-R, and a run box will appear in the lower-left corner of the screen.
    • In the new window, type or copy & paste "%temp%" (without the quotes), and enter.
    • Now your Windows Explorer should have brought you to the C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\Temp folder.  Delete all files and folders inside.
    • If some files or folders can't be deleted, restart your computer (a real restart, not sleep/wake) and try again.

If these steps don't help, do a clean uninstall of the EA App with Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) and reinstall it.

If the launcher is no longer blank but your game keeps crashing, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.
