Sims 3 Not Launching

Last year I purchased an Asus ROG Zephyrus M16. I was so excited to play Sims 3, however after installing I tried to launch the game and it refused to do so. The launch screen disappears as if something is about to happen, and then it just pops up again OR the EA app opens and says that the game is already running. Now, over a year and a half later, I am still unable to play this game.. It's been my absolute favorite game since I was a kid and it's been devastating that I cannot play on my nice, new laptop. And yes, I have tried every solution I can find on the internet, and I also looked through the guide linked on this website. I have tried the Alder Lake patch, limiting CPU, limiting framerate, using Powershell, running as administrator, etc etc etc. I would really love some help here because I want to be able to access my all-time favorite game again!

- I am able to play Sims 4 without issue as well as every other game I have installed. Sims 3 is the only one causing an issue. I have no mods or anything extra.

  • Mopar2006  Please repair the game in the EA App, which will undo the effects of the Alder Lake patch (and any other changes you've made to the game's program files).  The Alder Lake issue would have affected you initially, but the January patch fixed the problem for the EA App version of the game.

If you still can't play, please create a new admin Windows account and try playing there.  Make it local, as in, don't link it to your Microsoft account or any email address.  You'll be able to (try to) launch Sims 3 without reinstalling anything.

If that doesn't help either, let me know what happens when you try to play in the new account.  Please also look for new errors in the Reliability Monitor.  Hit Windows key-R and enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a chart of errors and updates with a column for each day.  Today is on the right.

Look for an error that happened at exactly the time of your most recent attempt to open Sims 3.  If you find one, double-click it to see more details, then copy that info and paste it into a reply here.  If you don't see a new error, check back in an hour or so—the Reliability Monitor doesn't always update right away.
