Store-bought Content not showing up in-game

I bought Sims 3 points and used them in the store. I bought things like clothing and hairstyles. I downloaded them to the Sims 3 launcher and then installed and the install said successful on each item. Every time I go in game and try to use these items for a new sim they are not there. I exit the game and the launcher basically says they were never installed, just downloaded for install. I have gone in so many circles and I am still not seeing my store-bought content show up in game. I just recently redownloaded Origin and my Sims 3 games so I do not see that being an issue. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how did you fix it? I understand Sims 3 is an old game but clearly it is still playable and if I can buy stuff it should work, ya know. Thanks!

  • Hey @itsmeallanna,

I've been having the same issue for a few weeks now and in a german forum post I read that this appears to be a known problem EA is working on currently. But so far there seems to be nothing we can do about it 😢

    Have a nice day!

  • @itsmeallanna  Since you reinstalled Origin, you shouldn't be seeing this issue anymore.  However, you may need to install your store content from scratch without the previous content present at all.  The easiest way to do this is with a clean user folder: move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, open the launcher to spawn a new folder, and download one item to test.  If it works, you can install the rest of your store content in small batches—the launcher doesn't install large amounts of data very well.

Once you've installed your content into the new Sims 3 folder, you can move your saves and anything else you want to keep to that folder as well.  Here's a description of everything in the user folder so you know what you might want to preserve:

If you can't see the items in-game even after installing into a new user folder, let me know.

@Ms_Dean_38 Let me set the way back machine to 12/10/2022 (- or about). My Origin based TS3 worked the night before and the next night I started the game to see all my store items little brown boxes. For three days I I tried many things and I could not get the game to work. So I thought EA wants pc users to use the new EA app so I downloaded and installed the EA app. I noticed that Origin got removed and I immediately thought I'm on the right track. I noticed there were changes from the EA BETA version and thought EA finally finished and and it was live. I did an uninstall  and a fresh install and every thing was good. I found the downloads dashboard and installed all my store items stayed installed. Life is good and wife got over TS3 withdrawal. Fast forward to 2/3/2023 (about - i don't remember exactly - everything was a blur). I come home and wife has that look again. The next two days I spent trying to get the game to work with the EA app and no store items. I could install them once and when I restarted the game they were gone. At this point I'm thinking I'm going to have to do another fresh install  so I downloaded Origin and proceeded to do another fresh install. After a few bad starts I had the game running again under Origin. Tested the store items and all was good. Wife was starting to calm down. I had banished Eden of the snake and all was good again. So now I'm back to where this all started. The only way I can get the game to run and be stable after this happens is to do a fresh install of the other game library (Origin vs EA app). I expecting I'll have to do this again as that's what EA wants (I guess - not sure at this point). Actually this is pretty good. I've been getting a lot of phone calls. The conversation usually starts "hey I just bought some beer you want to come over - by the way..". Needless to say I haven't bought beer for some time now.

Hi I just have a question, It works. But I was wondering if it would be okay if I happened to take files from my desktop sims folder and use them to get back cc worlds, sims, and items I previously installed? (Ie, putting the files back into the new sims folder).
