Stylist career issues

So I have a max level stylist for a while now. I want him to move on to the next career, but before that I want to complete his portfolio. I'm currently at 72%.

I think I understand how to do that - I need to successfully complete each of the 40 tasks available for stylist, that are triggered randolmly every morning.

The thing is, that sim is a stylist for 24 weeks now, and still didn't cover all of the tasks, just repetitions of tasks he already did.

I found out that I can trigger those tasks using testingcheatsenabled, but I could only trigger 14 of those (the rest are greyed out, saying that I don't meet the requirements to trigger those tasks, even if I;m supposed to).

However, using the cheat I found the missing tasks (it's not exactly the titles, I had to translate)

Junior clothing

Newlyweds' wardrobe

Engagement wardrobe

Single sim wardrobe

Wardrobe for mariage in peril

Promising star

Wardrobe for first impression

Outfit for professional interviews

Rebel wardrobe

Homage and mourning

Party outfits*

*There are 2 tasks about party outfits, I receive one of those a lot, while never getting the other one.

I used to think that with time all of those would pop up but I'm starting to think there might be an issue with those. Also no matter what lot I choose I can trigger the same tasks every time, even community lots, so I'm not sure if I can use the cheat to trigger the missing tasks.

Anyone knows how to fix it?

  • @kretorrbwly  Most of the tasks you list seem very situational or specific to certain sims.  For example, the rebel outfit is for teenagers, and I'm guessing the junior one is for children.  For engagement or newlyseds' wardrobes, you'd probably have to find a newly engaged or married sim.  If no such sims exist, the jobs probably won't be available.

Your sim can also chat up another sim and eventually solicit a job, which could help with obtaining a particular task.

It's also possible that the tasks are only available to certain career levels, as happens with other types of assignments, but it's been so long since I've played a stylist that I don't remember either way.  The easy test would be to use a mod to change your sim's career level and then see what's available; you could quit without saving afterwards.

@puzzlezaddict I know that the tasks are situational, but many sims have died since I maxed stylist career (like I said, 24 weeks) and did't get the "Homage and mourning" even once. Also, there are children and around town, still I never get the "Junior clothing" nor "Rebel wardrobe", nor do the tasks appear as available by using the testingcheatsenabled cheat. So Im not sure thats enough...

About soliciting, it's done using the portfolio - meaning, a stylist shows a sim all the tasks completed, so that sim may choose one of them. Which means, I could never get a task I haven't completed yet via soliciting.

And about changing the career level - I went through all of the levels, the options to trigger the tasks using testingcheatsenabled are kind of the same...

@kretorrbwly  I always thought that your sim could offer other types of jobs than the ones in the portfolio, but again it's been a very long time since I played that profession.

It might be better if you asked on another forum, one that has more active users than this one.  Since you're willing to use mods to trigger the tasks, you could ask at NRaas: maybe someone there knows another way to open up those assignments, or at least why they'd be blocked.

@puzzlezaddict I tried to log into the sims 3 forum but I couldn't, it says that I have an account (this account) but my password is incorrect, even after I changed my password, so I'm locked out of there I guess...

@kretorrbwly  That's a separate issue, one that might be fixable with some intervention on EA's end.  (I've reported it, and hopefully there's a way to address the problem.)  But for now, you can try making a different account, linked to a different email, or else posting on a different site like the NRaas forum.
