The Sims 3 game won't start up anymore when the mods folder is in it

Hello everyone,

Since today's latest update of the EA app my sims 3 game won't start up anymore, when playing with the mods folder in it, who I use for many, many years, including the most important ones, the Nraas mods who let the game run much better.

But I also use tons of other mods, lighting mods etc, because I dont like the vanillia sky, eyes , clothing and the very meager collection of accessories, especially for male sims.

I hope it will be fixed soon. Otherwise I have to throw away a lot of my all time favorite sims and lots I created in the many years I play my favorite Sims game.

I cleared the caches, temp files and EA's app recovery. But nothing. 🙁

After I launched the game, the screen stays black. Without the mods folder, the game starts normal and is functioning.

Has someone a solution for this problem? I need The Sims 3 WITH the mods folder functioning again.

  • jfallmendinger  Try creating a new Mods Framework and download a fresh copy of one mod known to work with patch 1.67/1.69.  Don't try ErrorTrap, at least not yet, in case you're using the wrong version.  Any other NRaas mod is fine to test with.  And delete scriptCache.package (again, if you have already) before you load the game again.

  • Fratsje  Do you use NRaas ErrorTrap?  If so, please download a fresh copy.  The Sims 3 update of almost a year ago changed the game's internal build number, which meant core mods like ET needed to be updated as well.  (Most mods are script or tuning mods, which were unaffected.)

If that doesn't help, create a new Mods Framework and add a fresh download of one NRaas mod, delete scriptCache.package again, then see whether the game works.  I'm not saying you have to delete all your other mods and custom content, only that this is a useful test.

    Hello puzzle addict,

Yes, I use Nraas error trap, together with Master Controler, Master Controler Cheats, Overwatch and Nraas Register.  It's since today this problem appeared. Last week I played the Sims 3 and everything just worked fine.

Maybe I have replace also all the mods with fresh copies. I use these mods for years now.

    I hope it will work.

I'm having the same issue.  Didn't even notice they did an update.  My game won't launch and I just played it earlier this week.  I'm not tech smart, so I don't know how to do all the uninstalling and other requirements, but it sounds like that wasn't working either. The last time I played, I kept noticing the NRaas Error Trap was hugh, but not the day before.  So, I'll wait and see what happens.

    Hello puzzleaddict,

It works. I removed my old nraas mods, my old Mods folder and created a new one, with also a fresh resourge.fdg file. I downloaded the latest Nraas mods I need.

    Everything works fine now. 👍🏻😊👍🏻

    Thank you.
