The Sims 3 World Adventures Installation No Optical Drive

I bought the Sims 3 World Adventures as well as the base game years ago. I installed and played both, but recently got a new ASUS laptop which has no optical drive for me to use to install the game. My older sister lost the original Sims 3 base game I had bought, so I bought it again through origin to download.  Now, I've been trying to register or redeem the serial code for World Adventures, and I've been unsuccessful, as I had already used it previously. Is there anything that I can do, other than repurchase the game or use an external drive? (I know that the latter would be easier, but I am trying to spend as little money as possible as I am saving up for a better guitar)

    Did you register it on the same account you bought the base game on ? 

    If not, contact a game advisor to have your accounts merged

    4. Describe your issue with a few words
    5. Click on Find a Solution
    6. Select Product: ex: The Sims 3 or Origin
    7. Select Issue Type: ex: Billing/Purchasing or Account Management
    8. Select Platform: PC
    9. Click Find solution
    10. Scroll down and click I still need help
    11. Click Chat Now to chat with a Game Advisor
