Did you ever play the original game? Seeing as it started as a game about architectural design it actually has a panel where it rates your home. You can see it here, amongst other things not related.

A style option would be interesting. The game could judge it based on furniture/decorations/build tools you use. So, for instance, if you use a lot of items from the Vampires pack the home would be seen as gothic.

I think it's an interesting idea. I like to play out stories though and so I 'know' how my sim feel about their homes. Some of my vampires would hate to have a creepy old castle for a lair and are much more comfortable living somewhere cosy and warm.

That would be a nice way to give them some personality.

In the Sims 2 I would use the most generic ceiling lights when building a home. After switching to live mode the sims’ first autonomous action was to look at the light fixture and disapprove.
I like the idea of a sim hating where they live. In CIty Living a Needs TLC apartment is the closest thing to a sim being unhappy with their surroundings, but only when something is acting up. I guess there are other lot traits like Cursed and Creepy Crawlies, that can temporarily make a sim feel bad in their home. But unsatisfactory living could totally be expanded upon.

I like this idea! It would be interesting to have a 'house satisfaction' measure based on factors, and a sim's overall feeling about the house generates occasional moodlets - good or bad, depending on the measures. I'd like the factors to be more like relationships, rather than have on-off states based on short term events.

Elder sims would notice if they walk up and down too many stairs in a short space of time. This happening repeatedly would reduce an 'accessibility' measure.

A house with plenty of room per person living there would get a bonus, and one with too little room a penalty

Mess and dirt should reduce it too with a 'cleanliness' measure that goes down over time when it's often messy.

Materialistic sims should dislike budget items

Sims whose bills are above some percentage of their income should also like their house less with an 'affordability' measure that decreases if this keeps happening

So we could see things like how 'expensive' it is for the household, or if there's enough room, etc. Answers to these problems could be interesting. For example too many stairs for elder sims might lead to moving house, or making a downstairs bedroom/bathroom, etc. Sims who were once happy might suddenly find their house too expensive if they change job and then need to sell some items. Having another family member might make the house feel smaller.

Same I don't need the game critiquing my building skills. Just like Events, I don't even care if I get a Gold or Silver. the party was good everything went the way I planned they got married.

yeah but also id like to have minimalist sims that want simple houses and get tense in those tacky "american dream" bling houses like "who needs all this stuff its disgusting"

I feel like they already do. No matter how ugly it might be, if it contains wall art and plants the sims seem to like it. It's evident when they get the nicely decorated mood. I've also had sims appear happy after I upgrade them to a larger more expensive home. Not sure if it has to do with their traits or not.

I wouldn't want it because I want to determine that. If I want my vampires to live in a cramped trailer so be it. They might be happy they escaped from the vampire lord and have a place to themselves in my story. This is one of those opt in or out possibilities to me at most, or something that could be trait based.
When I played the first Sims I didn't enjoy this aspect of the game. It ranked up there with being a fill their needs and time management based game. I was trying my hardest but they still had a poor room score until they are basically rich. If they had a dog poop at the far end of the lot with the walls up, it also affected the score. Yeah, that's a no from me.
Now I wouldn't mind if the nicely decorated happy score were lowered a bit... it's still pretty overpowering.
