Ultimate Decades Challenge - Day 32 - Year 1307 - Updated Nov. 17
Hello! Follow along with me as I play Morbid's Ultimate Decades Challenge! The challenge begins in the year 1300 and goes all the way through history to the present day.
We will follow Thomas Farvale, 16, living with his parents, Caitlin and Edward Farvale. He has two older sisters. Anna (20) and Elizabeth (18) who are both married.

I have updated Henford-on-Bagley to look medieval, as well as a few other worlds. I used a combination of some builds from DivanTheSimmer's Medieval Save and SnarkyWitch's Medieval Henford-on-Bagley. I also am using quite a few mods, but that's totally not necessary in order to do this challenge. :)
Just realized I forgot to answer your question about the heir. It will be Emma, and her husband will inherit when she marries. I think that's somewhere in the rules... But anyway, some peasants did own land from what I read, and I imagine that Thomas' family owned their land (I mean they are paying taxes lol). Women could own land if they were a widow or if they had no brothers that inherited the land, but once they married their husbands would technically own it. For women that owned land, any obligation to serve in a war or something could be fulfilled by the closest male relative, but they could still own the land.
I'm glad to see Kimberly playing her lute in town! Hopefully she's able to make enough money. I like the screenshot of Emma playing with the rabbit!
So, Lady Goth gave Frederick a death flower for his wife, and now believes that Camilla is hers. I worry what will happen if Lady Goth finds Camilla first.
It looks like Kimberly is starting to feel better, and Benjamin is going back to his blacksmith shop. Nice that she sold some items to Kim and was able to play her lute near the market stall. How nice of Sister Agnes to give her a tip. and John was there checking on his sister-in-law. More gardening and cute pic of Emma with the rabbit.
And now what really happened with Lady Goth. So, yes, a bargain was struck with her. A bargain that Frederick didn't agree to or keep. Of course, Arianna doesn't know anything of this. I have this terrible feeling that Arianna will try to seek out Lady Goth herself to try to find their daughter. Lady Goth does seem sure that she will meet Frederick again.
Although Kimberly was doing much better, times were still hard. She woke up early, and it was hard waking up alone, especially when today was...her birthday.

Kimberly was also keeping up with her work. She wanted to write songs and sing. If she could become the apprentice of a bard she could start out that way. Caitlin told her that Emma was welcome to come to the Sherwood farm during the days to play with Maren and David. Lady Goth was puzzling over the whereabouts of the king's daughter.

"More importantly, mirror on the wall, Who in this land is fairest of all?"
"You, my lady, are fairest of all."
"Good," she replied. "That shall do then...for now."
She went down to her dungeon where her magic cauldron was hidden. There she experimented.

Hopefully that wasn't too cheesy. :D So if you haven't guessed it already, one of the fairy tales I had in mind was Snow White (with Raven being Snow White). Lady Goth is the evil step mother of course, but she's also after Camilla...perhaps we shall find out why later.
I think I may try to do a Medieval Disney Princess challenge, either on the side, or combined with this challenge. For now, Raven's and Camilla's (and Emma's???) stories will coincide, but I'll figure out what to do with Raven's story afterward.
I changed Kimberly's look a little. I decided she should have some sort of head covering, as that was pretty standard for women in the middle ages. There were female bards, though I'm sure they weren't as common as male bards. I had thought maybe Kimberly could sing in church, but choirs were only men and boys back then so it made more sense to get her an apprenticeship.
Rolls for Kimberly and David: Kimberly (If she gets a 2, 6, 11, 13, or 14 she dies): 1 David (If he gets a 4 or 8 he dies): 16
So glad that nothing befell Kimherly on her birthday. It's good that she is thinking ahead and wanting to get an apprenticeship and that Caitlin is immersing herself in caring for her grandchildren to get over her grief. Oh poor little David! lol Nice to hear that there is a bardess who needs an apprentice. And what? The fox got Hank? Noo.....poor Hank. And now at Glimmerbrook Castle, the evil Lady Goth mixing a youth potion that isn't quite working. There must be something that Camilla possesses and that is why Lady Goth wants her so badly. A permanent potion of youth and eternal life is what I am thinking...maybe something in the child's blood. I guess we shall see.
When you wrote "today was her birthday" I got a little nervous. At least she made it through aging up without anything bad happening. I think the art lover trait suits her well, since she did love Thomas' art. I love that picture of the toddlers that follows "oh dear..." :) Their poor sad faces though... :'(
Poor Hank! I really liked hank! Poor Emma. Hopefully the apprenticeship goes well for Kimberly.

I didn't think it was cheesy at all! I like the direction you're going with this story. The part with Lady Goth and Camilla is very fairy tale like, while also being very original. I can't wait for the next chapter! I'm excited to see what happens with Raven later on as well!

It was nearing the end of winter and soon it would be time to harvest the winter crops. Kimberly was enjoying the farm work, even singing while she worked. Kimberly would not start her apprenticeship until after Christmas.

Since Thomas had gone there hadn't been a steady income from his paintings and Kimberly was worried there wouldn't be many gifts for Christmas. Still, she knew it would be a special time to celebrate with Emma. She remembered that it wasn't about what was under the tree, but about the precious gift that was the birth of the savior. Christmas came and Kimberly had a surprise. Kimberly couldn't help wonder what else would be in store for them. It had been a wonderful Christmas, even though she missed Thomas with all her heart. She knew he would be proud of where they were. She said a prayer and went to bed that night with a full heart.
The mod I had for her bard career didn't work. :( So now...I will just make it up and she will have to make money off of songs she writes. The gift she got from Father Winter was actually a very nice stove...which she of course can't use so I sold it for 3,000 simoleons! It was a nice little bonus. They really were running low on funds.
