Kit/Stuff Pack Idea
Dear Sims Team! Can you, please bring us a late 70's & 80's comfy build kit or stuff pack? I'd also like a 90's inspired CAS kit (in a separate post). I'm talking ugly patterned thick couches with rounded wood feet, full wall entertainment centers, wall papers with cute themes or florals with chair rails, and goose decor. I am an older (almost 50) Sims player, and I'd like to see some things like what I grew up with.
“Ugly” Couch with large wood end table and metal lamp. The second pic is a better look at an “ugly” couch, loveseat, and recliner. Add in the lamp table, the curtains with sheers between and a valance on top, and the heavy wood coffee table. The carpet color and the wall sconce candles are priceless.
Floor-to-ceiling (built-in) desk with attached cupboard - Could also be a floor-to-ceiling entertainment center in another room. Also, could use the kitchen chairs in the background and "original" computer.
Then of course we have the avocado green, almond, or mustard yellow appliances; a MUST in any good 70's kitchen.
Floor-to-ceiling entertainment centers with shelving on either side (with or without the color pop in the bottom). Ours was plain oak. We also need all the electronics that went with it (19-32” TV without the wood frame, stereo (in 2 or 3 pieces), VCR, original Nintendo or other “gaming console” – ours was a learning game console - and chotchkes galore.
Perfect 80's kitchen with the butterflies, blue/white China, lacy-edged fluted lamp shade, and chairbacks. Note the dishwasher that was "hidden" in the cabinetry, the plain (or sometimes lightly decorated) backsplash, and all the decorations on the beams.
This one shows another type of pattern popular in the 70's/80's. Note the valance on the curtains, the comforter on the bed, and the wrought iron frames. Bed-in-a-bag or Room-in-a-bag were very popular at the time. In my room this would have been Precious Moments themed with a Precious Moments wallpaper on the top of my wall and white chair rail and paint on the bottom.
This is the type of backsplash tiles my mom used to have, with tiled counters (not decorated) in our home in the late 80's. Those are flowers or herbs; in case you can’t tell.
These were the types of pictures we had in our living room when I was a kid. Ours were in frames, but something like this would be awesome!
Geese and bonneted kids were all the rage in the 70's/80's. Along with glass figurines of all types.
Not to mention the faux wood paneling and beams that showed up in every room in the house, on every wall, especially with rust, brown, dark blue, dark/medium grey, or avocado green carpeting. Note the butterflies and bult in pieces in the first picture, the “beautiful” linoleum covered bathroom cabinetry with matching colored sink, and the large mirror/medicine cabinet with built in lights in the second pic. The third pic shows partially painted wood paneling on top and a chair rail on bottom with a built-in fireplace and matching bookshelf and a “Tiffany” style lamp shade on the ceiling. The last picture shows how well the bed in a bag goes with the wood paneling, dark wood furniture, and medium grey carpet.
All of these pictures show what I would like in a new Sims Kit/Pack:
Wood paneling, heavy beams, and beds that look like they have a comforter, matching pillows, matching throw pillows, and matching bed skirt and curtains
Waterbeds (not shown)
Built-in shelving/entertainment center/desk, possibly with attached wardrobes or shelves – would be best if modular
Chair rails with paint or wood above and below and/or tile above and wood below for kitchens
Carpets to match the “ugly” couches in shades of rust, brown, mustard yellow, orange, dark/medium grey, dark blue, and avocado green
“Ugly” couches, chairs and loveseats with brown/orange or blue florals or western themes, rounded arms, and round wood feet (arms could have wood in front)
Kitchens with cabinet doorknobs and/or decorated fronts and avocado green, mustard yellow, or almond appliances (including stove hood), “hidden” (wood covered) dishwashers, and tile countertops with decorative tile backsplashes
Chairs with 80’s style backs, like sideways ladder or decorative sideways ladder (not sure what they are called)
Tables that are oval, wood with middle support
Curtains with sheers beneath, with and without valances, and valances with or without curtains, doily/lace type curtains
Wavy, fluted and/or Tiffany style lamp shades for floor, ceiling, and table lamps, along with lamp tables (where the lamp and table are 1 piece) and mirror/medicine cabinets with attached/built-in bulbs
Mostly everything in Oak, Walnut, Pine, Cherry, or dark Hickory wood colors
And, chotchkes galore including: goose themes, Indian (Native American) themes, pinned real butterflies in cloches or in frames, glass figurines of every style, 80’s style “original” computer, TV, and electronics – working or not, blue/white China wear in plate or platter size, speckled metal dishware and serving pieces, and shaped copper "Jello" molds (not shown)
I hope you take this request into consideration. Some of us older simmers really would like to recreate our childhood homes (of which I had 16 between 1978 & 1996 - Military Brat). You could call the build kit/pack something like Gen X Living.
I am not a customizer (or I would already have made something like this), but I do have more ideas. If you'd like to reach out to me, my email address is [edit: email address removed]. Thanks!
