Pregnant Scientist Sim not given option to remain at hospital to have a baby

My very pregnant Sim went to the hospital, and it took a long while until the Sim went the surgery bed, and just as the Sim laid down for the procedure, the Sim had an option to either 'Join' work (aka go to the active work, the desert Science Lab) or to 'Go Alone' (aka go to the Rabbit Hole version of work).

The option to stay at the hospital to give birth and then either go to work (with the baby going to daycare) or to be able to immediately take Parental Leave was not there.

What happened was the Sim had a hard time to laydown long enough for the natal procedure to complete. Luckily I have the Professional Slacker perk or this would have damaged the job performance metre.
