The Sims needs to hire Arnie

Suggestion: Arnie has officially returned to modding The Sims, and his talent speaks for itself. His work isn’t just impressive—it’s redefining what’s possible in The Sims 4. His ability to create functional, Maxis-match mods seamlessly integrates with the game while pushing boundaries in ways even official content hasn’t.

With The Sims team recently bringing on creators for kit packs, it would be a missed opportunity not to reach out to Arnie Studios for something bigger—he has the skills to develop an entire game pack. His expertise goes beyond modding; he designs objects that interact dynamically with his mods, creating innovations like The Sims 4 smart tech and beyond. His vision could elevate the franchise in ways that players have been craving. The Sims team should absolutely consider him for an official collaboration.

  • I was too scared to try his computer mod PlumFruit or whatever. It was very involved. And didn’t fully work.

That's because he quit modding for years and it broke while he was gone from modding. He is now back and will be completely overhauling and revamping the mod.

  • I have no idea if they should hire him, but it would probably do them well to do some heavy research into Sims 4 creators who work in CC and Mods to get a better idea of what those who are playing the Sims 4 want and how they want it implemented.

Honestly, sometimes it seems like EA is aware of these creators, but they have such a big ego they are scared to hire someone with actual talent that could surpass their current devs. People have been saying what they actually want in the sims for years! But the team doesn’t seem to always care nor do they actually communicate with their users who have been playing the game since release.

The case of the developer team "not communicating" is likely due to legal restrictions in their contracts. Hence the very limited "transparency" they have been providing us.

The case of creators and EA, however... that is far too complicated for me to theorize on since I know nothing about the bones of game mechanics. But, my main theory on that is once more "business".  A lot of the creators focus on aspects of the game that interests them and their supporters. They do it on their own time and by their own rules. Those who work for EA... again, I'm sure there are a lot of legal restrictions that dictates what tools and methods they can use and how they can use them. Therefore, I wonder if a lot of the fixes modders create are compatible in terms of what the developers of the game are able to do under contract. 🤔Brilliance and being able to think outside of the box unfortunately does not always mesh in realms of rigid, taciturn environments.

  • The Sims 4 players also have been very vocally abusive towards the developers' personal accounts. It's why most of them went dark.

You make some great points! However, I don’t see how hiring experienced players and modders would pose a legal issue, nor how efficiently fixing game bugs could create legal complications. In my opinion, this is primarily a bureaucratic issue. Video games evolve rapidly, and if veteran developers can’t keep up with current trends, they should step aside for those who are willing to do the research and develop in line with industry trends and user demands. Regarding legality, The Sims currently holds a monopoly in its genre, so as long as modders and developers create original content; without incorporating branded assets; there shouldn’t be any legal concerns. The same applies to animations; as long as the work is original, legal issues should not arise. Arguing otherwise feels more like an excuse for inaction rather than a legitimate concern, especially given that EA is a massive corporation with a dedicated legal team. When you break down the facts, many of the excuses for not hiring better talent or implementing improvements don’t hold up. It seems more like a case of complacency; developers failing to do their research, believing their approach is the only valid one, and then acting surprised when players express frustration over their decisions.
