About flirting to friend sims

@siirysiir Hi!  I agree with @aodoherty .  Sims tend to flirt while flirty.  ;-)   Maybe also check if your sims still have a romance bar?  Even if the bar is empty (no pink color) this indicates that the sims had romantic interactions at some point.  I've noticed sims are prone to autonomously flirt with other sims if they have a romance bar, even when they're not in a flirty mood.  I'm not completely certain but I think the only way to get rid of relationship bars is for the sims to cease all interactions and eventually they will forget each other.  There may be a mod for it but I don't know of one.   Hope this helps!

Yes, Sims autonomously flirt and it annoys me very much, even more so since the addition of Sentiments because then the other party often gets a horrible "Furious about Cheating" or stupid "DEEPLY BETRAYED!!!!!!!" sentiment.  There's an MC Command Center option under Tuner to stop random flirting, and I use this. 1. I feel like it's ridiculous that my Sim reacts the exact same way to their spouse doing a little flirty wave at someone as they do at seeing their spouse woohoo someone else. Ugh! Show a little proportion, please! Especially since I've seen it be the rando flirted at the spouse!

2. I also feel like my Sim shouldn't autonomously "cheat on their spouse" unless their relationship is on the rocks. If your romance bar is 100% and you KNOW your spouse is going to freak out and it will ruin your relationship, maybe don't do that stupid little flirty wave at a rando?

Side note: I've seen people posting to the bug report forums that the persistence of significant others showing up at work, etc., if they have a key seems stalkerish.  I personally find the flying into "DEEPLY BETRAYED" rages over behavior that is subtle enough that the player didn't see it happen seems borderline abusive. ESPECIALLY when it's an NPC flirting with the spouse rather than the spouse starting it!

I know in my first long vanilla save my sims flirted often with her ex-lovers. I read ... hmm, a few years ago a rant from a modder that the game is programmed that ex-lovers still can and will flirt with each other, nothing with platonic friendship.

In my now vanilla game my sims are only allowed to flirt with the townies, and if my sims ready for settle down, I delete all lovers, no breakup, just delete in manage households. Somehow its work now in vanilla and my spouses are faithful, no cheating and hurt feelings. Maybe I just lucky for now + I don’t let random sims join my conversation. If a Townie will join, I cancel the conversation or let my sims cloud gazing together (Rotation playstyle, without autonomy. Hmm, now when I think, it’s a while here since the last time a saw a townie random flirt. To 95% my townies only use the idle-chat. (No complaints from me, i don't need and want DRAMA)

Bevor I forget, the romantic trait is a trait which often stuck with your sim, self after re-trating potion. LittleMsSam have a mod for these problematic traits (Random Bug Fixes -> Trait Buff Fixes). console-player or player who want play vanilla, I would not recommend to change traits after creating your sim.

Play with jealous sims much?

Jokes aside, I can see the problem, Sims shouldn't autonomously flirt unless there's some external reason to flirt, and just being receptive of a flirt isn't the same thing as being the initiator. But honestly? This is exactly why the jealous trait exists, it's the "Deeply Betrayed" by "Common Flirt" mechanic, it's a negative trait to be sure, but it's realistic. I honestly tend to stay away from negative traits as much as possible and generally don't have this issue (mind you I don't flirt much to begin with)

I don't play with Jealous Sims, no.  I tried it once and was deeply annoyed by it.  She was constantly either tense or uncomfortable.  Tense: my spouse isn't standing next to me.  Uncomfortable: my spouse is talking to someone who isn't me.  Sheesh!

The worst examples of "someone flirted with my spouse and I got an awful sentiment" were 1. Good, Family-Oriented, Cheerful, and 2. Geek, Genius, Cat Lover.  The first one was on the third date for the final level of the Soul Mate aspiration, and they'd already earned gold, and all of his queued romantic interactions sent their romance bar to like 75% red so I rage-quit without saving.  The second was a legacy save immediately before I planned to conceive the heir.  *facepalm*  The Legacy Challenge has the rule that you're not allowed to rage quit so I had him spam smooth apology over and over and over again while plotting their horrible deaths.  😉  (I didn't harm them, but I did stop playing them. I just... can't let my Sims die, which means the Legacy Challenge isn't for me.)

It has nothing to do with the jealousy trait.

I avoid that trait like the plague and even cheat them all the Player trait to avoid the situation, but still ended up with an issue where I forgot to give one of my couples the trait and some rando forest ranger decided to walk up and flirt with one them and his husband got the whole betrayed attitude and caused damage to their relationship - drama I do not want in my game.

There's drama--I recently played with a family whose father recently died, my Sims seem to get abducted by aliens and come home pregnant a lot, etc.--and then there's the kind of drama I can't stand. I don't think jealousy is cute and hate it in my game.

This type of drama is precisely why I avoid the jealousy trait in the first place.

More importantly, if I did choose to explore it, I want to do so on my own terms, not just because the game decides to randomly insert a stalker forest ranger (who I eventually killed because he would not leave my sim alone).

Here's G male sim. Currently she is engaged with R. She WAS a girlfriend of Grant before, and the romance bar was empty  but still remained after being back to friend. I erased the pink relation bar completely by using 'destroy.relationship' cheat. G and S female sim became totally strangers. Now they are just good friends but I still don't trust them, so I installed 'no random flirt mod'. I had no choice.

I wish they have the right to refuse to be flirted with other sim if the sim has the proper lover like the sims 3 sims. I don't use mccc, so I just installed no random flirt mod.

I tried the sim with jealousy trait long time ago, and I don't give this trait ever again. :D I have no idea with the jealousy sims.

Of course, G sim had romantic trait but the problem is that S female sim flirted to G first. G hasn't flirted with her without my command. Also female S sim's traits are Self-assured, art lover and insider. She doesn't have any romantic trait herself and also she has never had any romantic traits since she was born. I don't mean I blame her. I just want to know if it's possible sim who doesn't have any romantic trait, can flirt to other sim who has never been her boyfriend before. Anyway, I installed no random flirt mod now, so I feel more comfortable now and this is not a problem any more. Thanks. 🙂
