Advance Trap State?

So I got Island Living and City Living for Christmas since I got a $50 Xbox card that day and I think just today my Sims are unable to set the traps or set them with bait. Currently they're at the Family Fun Day event on Sulani (they live in Ohan'ali Town) and they're still unable to set the trap at their house. The trap next to their house (they live at the house next to the beach lot) works fine. I tried to reset the home one earlier before the event but that still didn't work, so before coming to post this I pressed A and B on the trap and saw "(Debug) Advance Trap State" and selected it, thinking it'd fix the issue. It didn't, so I'm just curious what that option is for.
