Animal shed, after purchasing animal does not appear in shed/cannot interact

Cow/llama initially appears in shed, but then shed seems empty. Can purchase new animal whilst still receiving negative moodlets about cow/llama being unhappy and wanting to find a new home. Sometimes animal re-appears, may be able to interact once or twice, but then that interaction breaks also; can talk to animal but not milk, clean or feed.
