Camera height Sims 4

I'm surprised I can't find anything about this anywhere.  I've seen in Sims 4 videos people raise and lower the camera height (I'm not referring to the angle of *tilt*), yet I have no controls to do that and get no results on a search for it.

The default camera height in the game is at mid-chest level of a standing adult Sim. So if they're sitting or swimming, or a toddler, child or pet, the camera is WAY over their heads and can't be lowered. Which means I can't zoom in on any sim except a standing adult

This is the same using the Sims 3 or the Sims 4 camera setting.

If I right click a pet, it will lower the camera height to just over their head, but as soon as I move the camera closer to the pet (using W or the up arrow), it pops up to the adult-mid-chest level.

Like I said, I've seen in videos people zoom in on more than just adult sims (not using TAB), yet I can't.

You will have at least Paint maybe also Paint 3D. Otherwise there are several free on the Internet. Google "Photo editing software free". For a quick touch up I use Paint.net.

  • OP,  I was wondering it too and no one has told me but! Q and E are the solution!!! I hope you already found it in the meantime but no one here seems to have understood your actual question haha!

Enjoy raising and lowering the camera ^^

Is there a way to do this when in build mode?  Tab mode is all very well but I have to come out of it to grab build tools.

@IngeJones  Try switching to the Sims 3 camera (click the camera icon in the upper right corner of the screen), then holding down the middle mouse button and moving the mouse up and down.

I am already in Sims 3 camera.  You're actually referring to something different which is the angle of tilt.  I can change that by about 80degrees from horizontal to nearly top-down.  What I am actually talking about is changing height, as if the person holding the camera was getting taller or shorter.  Ie vertical panning.  We can do that with Q and E in tab view, but not with anything at all once the UI is visible.

@IngeJones  Yeah, I get that, and it would be convenient if there were a way to use the Q and E buttons outside of Tab mode.  (I tried all the key combinations I coulld think of and got nowhere.)  I'm just saying you can accomplish a lot with the middle mouse button even without Tab mode.
