Can someone explain why the game keeps putting my roof on the ground?
I can’t figure out what I’m missing. I’m trying to cover my crops because I have seasons and I watched someone on YouTube easily make columns and place a roof on them, but even after pressing the up arrow key, which supposedly allows you to place a roof, the game continues to place my roof on the ground. Why would anyone want a roof on the ground, this shouldn’t even be possible.
im confused too because I managed, after much consternation, to apply a roof to a room I built, but the game wouldn’t allow me to retexture it, and my sims sometimes act like they’re getting rained on when they’re inside the room, even though it has a roof on it now.
Am I missing a step or something? I’m so confused. I’ve tried placing trim first but that doesn’t work either, and there doesn’t seem to be an option to add a ceiling, so I just can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. I’m on ps4 btw. Help???
edited to add photos: sometimes my roofs look normal, and sometimes they look like this.
@DystopianViolet The trick is that you need a ceiling - ie a room - to initially place the roof. Just initially though; once placed, you can drag it off by resizing, and/or delete the walls from under it.
To cover plants, first build a room nearby - it doesn't need to be more than a single tile.
Then place the roof on top.
Drag the edge of the roof off and over to where you want it.
Then drag the other edge over to where you want it to end - it no longer needs to be touching the ceiling.
Now you can delete your mini room, leaving the roof floating.
Place columns underneath to make it look like they're holding up the roof.
