Consequences in the Sims 4

Spoiler
Spoiler

A big thing that a few of the community have mentioned the game lacks is Consequences for sims intertactions. There doesn't seem to be any real meaning full substance / comparitive realism to what a sim does or says to their fellow sims or the effects / consequences there actions or cnversations have on their life (for longer than 10 sim minutes) as well as the other sims around them. Repercussions and consequences would add more depth to the game as well as richer playability.

  • @HERB405 I can understand what you mean in general... The Sims do seem to 'move on' faster than they used to from a conflict, etc. However, I have definitely noticed mine hold onto something longer than that. You can also 'declare enemy' if you want to anchor a bad relationship in more. I make and play pretty 'nice' Sims and no occult ones (aside from a couple I turned into a mermaid/merman), yet I've been surprised how often I will have them interact with a new Sim (new to me, or one I had no idea they had other &/or negative interactions with) and find a negative/red relationship bar exists with that Sim!

Having said all of that, though, I can definitely appreciate your feedback that you would like to see a more lasting consequence and length of 'memory' in regards to interactions. 🙌

@HERB405 , I do tend to agree with you!  Our Sims play more like an idealized version of people where repercussions aren't dire, and recovery from negativity is much quicker than in real life, or even quicker than in past Sims games!  Sometimes I do like this (like when I'm crafting a story and something interferes with what I intended to happen, where this can be helpful for me to move on with my plans 🙌) , but other times I would prefer to have more weight to the decisions me or my Sims make , in order to make them feel more real, as well as more different from one another.😞     Both Sims 2 and Sims 3 had more repercussions to Sim behavior.  Sims 2 had not only Wants but also Fears, and if you realized one of your Sim's fears then all sorts of things could happen, like if your Sims was a Family Oriented Sim and their child was taken away from them, and it was one of their fears, then they would start to cradle a sack of flour as if it were their baby! 🤨😉  It did make for a much richer experience, but it was also a lot harder to play! 😃  But it was a lot of fun! 🥳

Yes I agree with you. I think generally the further the Sims travels as a game the more development people expect to see regarding real life experience and how occurances are dealt with. And it's re I forced by the games slogan... 'Play with Life'. But saying that the Sims 4 seems to have travelled in the opposite direction. It's almost as if the developers started learning about the sims game from scratch with the new platform that EA took with The Sims 4. I get this impression when comparing Sims 2, 3 & 4 and taking all the problems /glitches & bugs into account which is really all that was in the previous games & should not still be an issue in a game in its 4th 'generation' series. So in the end my theory is that this series was a major experiment that resulted in a somewhat watered down version of what should be a very advanced game by now (including knowledge & practical development of Graphics /advanced technology/modifications & game fluidity).

@HERB405 , I had heard rumors that TS4 was supposed to have been an online game that got scraped at the last minute for some reason.  However, I've also heard that it was supposed to be a mobile game.  If I am to believe either of these scenarios, it would be the online one.  That could explain why people find it not as fleshed out as TS2 and TS3.  But even if these claims are just rumors, I do know that TS4 has a completely different game engine from TS2 and TS3!  That would also account for some of the differences.  Also, TS3 did run poorly on many people's computers, with laggy gameplay, grinding to a halt, and even crashing frequently 😢 -- and so the developers have said to avoid such problems they didn't include an open world (just some open common areas) , which I was happy to see since I had a lot of problems with TS3.  That said, there are a lot of improvements in TS4 such as the ability to multi-task, that I really love! 💗

This is why I like the Sims Medieval, there are consequences to the sims behavior. 🥰

  • I totally agree with what you said!!!

In the Sims 4, many players noticed in the game that there are not many consequences as in the previous games even though it should have been the case.

Now with Sims 4, it feels too save, less risks and less realistic. Small details matter too!!!

There should be more drama in the Sims 4 as well for example:

    - A reputation status should be in the game, because that will have influence on the sims whenever it's good or bad.

    - When a sim is in a romantic relationship and cheats on him/her, shows affection for the other sim in public too often, other sims might notice it like Sims 3 and will gossip about it.

The player or another sim that have seen the sim being unfaithful has the option to tell the sim who got cheated on to tell the truth and the sim who got cheated on will accuse the partner of being unfaithful. Or when the children gets involved. For example when a child or teen sees one of the parents kissing another sim they get upset, maybe running to his/her room and will cry or get angry with them and their relationship between their parent gets lower. Teens will do the same but maybe they can call the cheating parent out and if their relationship is really bad, teens can run away from home like Sims 2,  i twas thinking, maybe it would be a nice small detail to put in the game if the child or teen witnessed the cheating and cry, that the older siblings can comfort each other. Friends and family members could also get affected by it if the cheating sim is friends with them and they will get upset with him/her.

    - Friendships, when a sim is best friends or bff with another sim, the sim can also have more than 1 best friends. If a sim finds out that his/her best friend is gossiping badly about him/her too often or make up a rumor about the specific sim, then the sim gets the backstabbed moodle,is angry and upset and their relationship goes low.

i don't have many idea's, but if you have one, share your thoughts about it!!! 🙂
