Console feedback and ideas
Playing on Xbox 1 and I believe there should be many game changes and updates for the sims 4 such as
• Toddler should have stages from when they crawl to when they are able to walk. We should also ...
Alright, in trying to make build mode better on console, you’ve messed it all up. I’m so used to hitting A for okay and now it’s right trigger. That sucks. But omg do you realize that every time I try to undo something, it now opens the whole search? It’s awful. It takes forever to try to make anything anymore. Honestly, I like being able to close out the build catalog. I don’t know why anyone thought it was a good idea to change it. Pretty sure the only things any of us were even asking for on console was more options to toggle roof angles and to be able to put railings on stairs one by one instead of pairs and to be able to adjust eves on each side of a roof. Because those things would actually be useful. Please just put it back the way it was. 😩
Build/buy is about impossible to use with the new control update. Change it back. You can not scroll through items, you can not select swatches and i dont like the items being permanently across the screen. I play on ps5
Yes please do!
I’m having a really hard time with the controls after the update today. I’m on PlayStation. The L2 button is undo but now because the menu stays open it opens a dialogue box to search the catalog every time I click it. I also find that I move my cursor back to the catalog and it won’t scroll. I then have to try to get it to go back to select mode in the catalog which is hit and miss. I had to shut down this game and not continue playing because it’s just not working. I really hope this can be fixed soon as I just spent a lot of money on expansion packs last week and I’m really disappointed after today.
Build mode is so bad I will not play anymore unless it’s fixed. It took me 7 hours to remodel a house yesterday. Has anyone noticed how long it takes to pick something up and put it in household inventory? It’s ridiculous and unplayable. So I guess I’m done with the sims unless it gets fixed.
i agree completely, it broke the game so badly i had to stop playing out of frustration. not only did they make it so the catalog stays open, they actually messed with basic button functions. who does that? i can't believe they thought this was a good idea. 90% of my time spent playing sims is in build mode. if they don't fix it i don't think i'll be able to keep playing ☹️
Seriously, please just revert to how it was. It was fine. Now you can’t scroll up and down in any menus without manually navigating the cursor over to a tiny scroll bar, you can’t select swatches without doing the same thing, you can’t use B to quickly go back to the previous menu level, you can’t raise or lower objects at all anymore as far as I can tell, the menu being constantly open takes up waaay too much of the screen. Functionality has been limited and it now takes about five times as long to do ANYTHING. It’s unplayable. I’m so upset and don’t understand why this has been done? I can’t play with a mouse and keyboard as I play in my living room from my sofa and don’t have a desk or anything in here. Also I shouldn’t have to?
The worst update to a game ever !
it is impossible to build. Get the old settings back
The changes made are the opposite to Quality of Life changes. it is tedious, difficult to use and counterproductive. I don't understand what they were thinking.
Also I have hand problems. and this change makes it even more difficult to actually play.
It’s awful isn’t it
If anyone hasn't seen the official threads for the problems created by this weeks patch here they are:
There has been a direct response from the Sims Team on the crashing thread which is great. But... nothing official on the controller feedback thread from the team themselves and that really disappoints me. I hope it's a priority. It's actually hurting my hand to build now and it is incredibly buggy. It's been left to EA to engage with some very upset and distressed players and that's great to get their help and involvement but they didn't make these changes, devs did. So I'd like to see something from them to explain the logic and what steps will be taken. It's starting to reach gaming media so I hope it gathers momentum from here on out. I keep expecting to see a quick fix for unintended consequences. I hope that's what happens soon.
I mean, we're customers not just players. We haven't subscribed to this we've bought it all outright and it ain't cheap.
The changes to the controls are absolute madness! WHY???!! It makes building a freaking nightmare! My partner and I bought a bunch of expansion packs for Christmas and then I bought a couple more the other week, but now, due to this “update”, can’t even enjoy the damn game!! I was planning on buying a few more, but now I just want my freaking money back! What the hell is this nonsense?! The stupid catalog is in the way, the scrolling doesn’t work right, ect ect, it’s just a freaking sh** show. Not spending a penny more on this crap! So disappointing and just plain wrong. Also, content should be transferable between your different systems. I have a computer, PlayStation and Xbox and shouldn’t have to buy the same game for each individual system. Not that that matter anymore, the game has been rendered unplayable at this point.
2 hours in build mode yesterday, building a house I've designed before so I thought it would be quick to do. I couldn't play in live mode because it was crashing...and I'd only just got rid of one crashing bug!
So build mode was my only option. It didn't crash but 2 hours of things not working, controls not responding. That awful colour choice bar thing strains your eyes and it's not intuitive now, it doesn't default to the colour you are using. It's a single level home, which I thought would be simpler, but no. Plus they've loaded RT with so many functions it doesn't know which one to do so it does the opposite of what you want.
After 2 hours my hand and arm hurt and worse, I felt nauseous. It strained my eyes. Even taking regular breaks and walking around a bit. I'm just so angry that there hasn't been a full statement on this yet. With respect, where is everyone? I've been as detailed as possible on the controller thread but there's nothing on there from the team except for a message to keep giving feedback from EA.
I cannot buy even more games to fill my break time while I can't play the Sims. Last year I played so many games during Sims "unplayable months" with no impactful bugs. Most on the same console. I thought I was finally able to return to my Sims.
