[Crystal Creations] Death by cowplant still possible with charged hematite?

Hello. This has happened several times now so I'd like some input.

I have a Sim who has max Gemology skill and has carved two items with hematite in them - a ring and a decorative skull. Hematite, when fully charged, gives Sims the benefit of not dying. They are given a buff which is +1 Confident and is called Total Immortal. It says "*Sim* has embarked on a journey that knows no end. It's time to embrace the gift of eternal life!" My understanding of this is that wearing this gem, fully charged, with this buff, will stop your Sim from dying in any situation. However, I have had this Sim die three times now to a cowplant while wearing a fully charged hematite (I saved before even interacting with the cowplant, so I have not lost anything). Is this expected behaviour? Am I missing something? I don't think my Sim should die in this situation. I do run with mods (MCCC, TwistedMexi's cheats, etc) so I have completely removed them and tried the whole situation again - my Sim still died to the cowplant. Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Any input would be much appreciated. 🙂

  • I think immortality in The Sims 4 just prevents death by old age. I don't think there is any way to prevent "accidental" deaths except avoiding the situations that cause them.

Vampires, who have natural immortality, can still die from sunlight and other causes. Spellcasters who drink the Potion of Immortality will still age up to Elder and can still die from all other causes except Old Age. There is another Spellcaster potion, Instant Resurrection, that brings a Sim back to life immediately, but even that doesn't prevent death. I don't have Crystal Creations, so I can't test hematite carvings, but I suspect they are the same way.
