I realize some of you have tried some of this, but please try the rest and confirm that none of it works, OR let me know if something helps at least some of the time. I'd like to gather more information while flagging the issue to EA.
Please clear Windows temp files:
- Click Windows key-R, and a run box will appear in the lower-left corner of the screen.
- In the new window, type or copy & paste "%temp%" (without the quotes), and enter.
- Now your Windows Explorer should have brought you to the C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\Temp folder. Delete all files and folders inside.
- If some files or folders can't be deleted, restart your computer (a real restart, not sleep/wake or shut down/boot) and try again.
Please try uploading an almost-blank lot—just some walls and a piece of furniture—created in a new save. If this helps, try the same in an existing save.
If that doesn't work, please test in a clean folder. Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop. When you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content. (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.) Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start another new save.
When you're done testing, you can trash the new folder and put back the old one to restore your saves and other user data.
Finally, please try playing in a new admin account on your computer. Make it local, as in, don't link it with your Microsoft account or any email address. Make sure the name contains only letters from the Roman alphabet and numbers (if you want), no accents, special characters, etc. You'll be able to launch Sims 4 without reinstalling anything, but your user data won't be available.
If none of this helps, please list your Gallery ID if it's different from your username here. Please also let me know whether you've uploaded an avatar to the EA App. And if there's a pattern to the lot types (residental rental, some type of community lot) that are affected, list that too.
