Doing a game repair isn't hard, at all. (I would, however, remove your Mods folder, prior though). The only other thing I can think of for you to do, is to rename your Sims 4 game folder by adding a dot and something like old behind the dot, example: Sims 4.old. Start your game and a game folder will regenerate. Then you can close your game and replace the new saves folder with the one from .old game folder, plus your Tray, and your Mods folder. Make certain you delete the localthumbcache.package and restart your game. That particular package apparently holds bits and pieces of mods and whatever, so it's essential you delete it. No worries a new one regenerates in its place.
