Echos of Time quest

So I did the quest part to show the shards of time but then my game crashed and that file that had the shard.. was just gone?? I don't mind about the family i made it for the quest but I don't have them anymore. when I tried to see him in a new save I couldn't give him anything anymore. Don't know what to do now to complete it. First time asking a question so sorry if this is like worded wrong
