Enable/Disable packs without being online

Is there a way to enable/disable packs offline if a player wants to have certain packs available sometimes, but not always?

I am already aware of the online method (going through game properties and typing in (under Advanced Launch Options) Command Line Arguments. I want to know the way to do it offline (in text files- since there is an obvious file there).

Going online forces users to update, and several players already know how bad that is (with updates breaking games, causing various issues- including not being able to play for months). There are many players who want to stick to their current (somewhat) stable version, while being able to choose which packs to play with, or not play with. Since the game is on their HD (including all packs, regardless if they are disabled), there has to be some sort of text (?) file to edit, or another way around going online and breaking one's game from required updates that the player does not want (having already spent too much money on a broken game).

@cherriesandwine1 The command line method works if you are online (Open Origin, go to My Game Library. Right click on The Sims 4 & select Game Properties. Select Advanced launch options. And then enter the text "-disablepacks:EP02", without the quotes, for example, or the string that you wrote) in the box below in Command line arguments. That's where it works. I am guessing you have no issues with going online, and not worried about updates?

I wish the devs would have kept the Sims3 pack prompt thing and implemented it in Sims4. Anytime I fire up my TS3 I get the pop-up asking which packs I want to use, and then just select (or deselect) the ones I want (or don't want). That was a smart feature.
  • Through Origin. I used the exact command line code and it isn’t working. Very strange. Didn’t mean to hijack your thread, just thought it was a similar issue - apologies

@cherriesandwine1No worries at all. I thought you did the thing that Psychotps said (adding a desktop shortcut with the added bit at the end), and it didn't work.

Did your game still load up the packs? Or did it show them as downloading? When you disable packs through the command line (Origin) and then start up your game, it will show the packs 'downloading'- but they aren't actually.. it's some weird thing. The packs will still show in the main menu when you load the game but the packs wont be in game (or, shouldn't be). Did you disable (in Origin) and then open your game to check (starting a new save file to see)? *edited for clarity

  • Yeah I opened the game and everything is still there as usual unfortunately. It’s annoying as it doesn’t seem to be affecting others so I assume it’s maybe an issue on my end

@cherriesandwine1just wanted to make sure (for clarity) if you started a new save file after disabling packs in Origin. When I used the disable packs command line in Origin (when I first found out about it) I thought it didn't work, but then once I made a new save file (and started playing) I saw the packs were disabled (just looked like they weren't). The mechanism and programming is not very user friendly. The game packs will show in the main menu when you open the game, but once you start a new game it should have those packs disabled.
