Events window minimized to clickable tab

After the latest update, all events windows showing goals for that event have been reduced to a clickable tab. Unfortunately, any time I switch between Sims in the same household, the window switches back to the tab so I have to click it every single time I switch family members in order to check on their progress. This is very annoying when dealing with a large household during a holiday event. 
Also, making a New Year's resolution doesn't work anymore. I click on "Make a resolution" and nothing happens.
