Hello. I hope the home business mode expansion pack will be released. Home cafes, home bars, home daycare centers, home health, home animal hospitals, etc. Thank you.
@iamyujin76 I agree wholeheartedly!! I've had a number of homes that I made as a home/business combo, and I love that concept! I would be so thrilled to not have to run it in the workaround fashion!
[Just in case you're not aware of this workaround, this is how I usually do it to make and run a retail business/home combo (requires 'Get to Work' pack), and in this explanation I also have notes from a home/business that was a vet clinic (requires 'Cats & Dogs' pack)...]
I have the Sims 'own' a separate small home (where children who go to school and Sims that return home from work turn up) and I play from the home/retail business/ or home/vet clinic as if it was the home, opening the store or vet clinic when I want to. When a household Sim leaves the lot and turns up at the 'home' (the separate small home), I simply click the lightning bolt on them to have them come here and they appear on the home/retail business/ or home/vet clinic lot. I'm able to assign them beds.
Vet clinic/home specific notes: They can tend farm animals, will work in the vet clinic if I have them, plus I can hire vets and run the vet clinic as normal (for Cats & Dogs). My Sims did all of the Country Living stuff on the lot, including the crops, farm animals, plus having fox, rabbits (stump) and birds (tree) on the lot. All of those functions worked fine.
A few general things to note: • You cannot add functioning laundry aspects to the lot. It breaks. • You cannot add a butler. • You cannot ban vampires, though they also did not bother me. • You can make your 'unused home' work for you via Roommates (requires 'Discover University' pack): You can advertise for roommates (after you add sufficient beds for all family members and roommates on the 'home' lot - the one you're not actually living in but they turn up at) (I used a blocked basement room to put a bunch of beds on, then I added unassigned beds and the setup needed for the roommates to their original home... after you get the roommates assign them those intended, accessible beds). They will not answer the ad on the retail/clinic lot. I was able to place the ad (after adding extra the beds to the other 'home') and ask Sims that came to the clinic lot (for other reasons), or other acquaintances, to be a roommate while the add was active. In my test I actually had both of the vets I hired living in the other home, paying rent as roommates. I was receiving over $3000 each time for rent. • I could hire a maid and gardener. However, note that at first they came to the vet clinic/home I tested this on and after I visited the other home they stopped coming to the vet clinic/home. They were still hired though. If I fired and rehired they did not come to the clinic lot. I assumed they had started going to the home. This would help for a maid, though, as they will make sure the renters don't destroy the home. So... I kept the maid.
Anyway... I absolutely love doing the business/home concept, as you can see by the convoluted way in which I made it happen for my Sims, suffice to say I would also love to have this feature function as intended for a retail/home combo! You have my 'Me Too' and 'XP' on this one! 🙌 @EA_Cade Thank you for considering the idea!
