Fairy Sims unable to access skill tree UI after creation, or seen as Fairies.

So, I have an all occults family- a Vampire, a Werewolf, a Ghost, a Mermaid, a Spellcaster, an Alien, a normal Sim, and a Fairy. Except, the Fairy has a problem in that he can't access his skills anymore. What little he could do with his skills prior to the bug is still accessible from the Fairy part of the wheel, but he cannot access anything else. His true Fairy form has no wings, despite my adding them in CAS prior to this. I check him in CAS, and he's not even considered a Fairy in CAS, but a normal Sim, meaning the Fairy stuff cannot be edited!

So, I thought, why not start a fresh new file just to check things? So, I try it... and not only does the newly created Fairy Sim not start out as a Fairy, but when I go through the process to become a Fairy (I tried this on my Occult Family file as well, thinking I basically had to "turn it off and turn it back on again" AKA get rid of Fairy Occult status, then regain it again), I STILL don't get any wings or skill tree UI, meaning I basically just have the starting stuff, the true form (which without wings or being able to access it in CAS due to it acting like he's a normal Sim means nothing), and Emotional Force as a motive, but no way to celebrate gaining experience or leveling up.

I was under the impression that you'd at least fixed the Fairy wings disappearing, but no! Now they don't appear at all! And before you ask, yes, I did test this with and without mods the other day and the mods aren't the problem! For something I was actually really excited for, I'm sad to see it suddenly stop working out of the blue, since it's a big draw for me as a player.

  • Try the following

    - Close the game
    - Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
    - Repair the game
    - Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry.
    - Start a new save game
    - Check if you still have the error
    - Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.

Good news! It worked! Can I add back my mods and saves now? At the very least, I hope they're still there in my Gallery, but if not, I can always try to recreate them.

    Hi Manegirl416

You can now start to copy back things from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old to the new Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder that was created.

First only copy (I suggest to copy so you can go back in case anything goes wrong along the way) the content of the folder Saves (these are your save games). If you are prompted if want to overwrite a save, decide if you want to keep that testing save you just made or not. If not, just overwrite if, if you want to keep it, rename the save to a different number that isn't taken.

Test just your save game with nothing else added back. If that works, you can start copying back the rest. If not, check back.

You will need the following folders

    - Tray (your households and lots you have saved to library)- Custom Music (if you added any)
    - Screenshots (if you've taken any)
    - Videos (if you've taken any)
    - ConfigOverride (if you made any although I recommend redoing those)
    - Options(.ini) (although I recommend to just redo your settings in the game)

Now test again. If that still works, you can put back your mods. Put them back in groups and make sure they are still compatible with the game.

All other files are recreated and not needed.
