For Rent Pack Issues

I have just recently purchased the “For Rent” pack and seem to be having some issues. I have built two apartments now, when selecting my apartments from manage worlds, I cannot click on certain units The first apartment I made, was two story and I was able to access the unit I wanted from there but my second apartment is just one story.
I also am having trouble finding where I can make a unit a “home unit.” I’ve looked it up online but where it is in everyone’s settings, isn’t what mine is like. I am playing on an Xbox one, no mods or cc.
Overall I’m trying to move my family from my two story apartment to my one story villa, but can’t make units a home unit and cannot select the unit I would like from manage worlds when trying to move household. When looking in forums I only see solutions for trying to simply travel to the unit (by traveling to a different unit and then walking up to the door of the unit desired) but not for moving or a different solution for making a home unit. I’ve also seen this has been a problem for a couple years now and it’s disappointing this has not been fixed, $35 and I can’t even use all of the features.

Does anyone have a solution on how I can move my family to my new apartment?

Okay actually my sister helped me find the root of the problem, I had a tree next to my house that I guess was keeping me from getting into my unit.

    it is all fixed now

So I came back to play on my save and when I went to the basement level from manage worlds I got this pop up

so I tried to make a second floor instead and now when I try to place a roof I get this pop up

and it has that random clip of the wall on the roof… I did search this up in forums and seems to be ongoing issue. I’m afraid I may have to scrap this.

LilShaay  Well, I downloaded and took a look at your lot.  Good news!  There is nothing wrong with the lot.  All households showed the proper icon.  I had one of the sims buy the property as well as moved in four tenants.

So, my suggestion for you to fix it in your save is to move out all the households and sell the lot.  Enter the lot from the map and bulldoze it.  Then replace it with your copy on the Gallery.  That should clear up the issue.

Btw, I did find the home lot check box in my game.  It was greyed out though for the landlord but checked for the tenants.  I found it after I had the sims in the apartments.  I just never noticed it before in my game.

    Hope this helps.

I built a very unconventional basement and set it as part of my unit and that actually worked! Not sure why I can’t select the unit from the ground floor though, that’s very odd. I’m not sure if it’s just an issue for me or with the pack but I hope it does eventually get fixed.
Thank you for taking your time to help me with my problem!

It’s on my gallery, my ID is: Lil Shay4201939 / Calle Del Ensueño is the lot name.

With my two story apartment, I could also only access from a different level than ground floor. I may just have to add in a random basement or second floor to access it. I will try that to see if it works.

  • LilShaay Thank you for the pics!  That helps a lot.  From what I see in them; everything looks fine, and you've defined all the apartments correctly.  Based on what you said earlier, the unit that you can't move into is a one-level.  You mentioned a two-level unit in your first post.  I can't see that, mainly because when I zoom to make the pics larger, they blur too much for me to make out which one that is.  Do any of the units have a basement?  I have a residential rental where I added a basement level to make detached storage rooms for each of my 6 apartments.  For some reason, the icons for one apartment shows there instead of on the apartment itself.  But I do get the unit popup on it and have to click there to load the apartment.  I don't see that in your pic though, so I doubt you have the same thing happening.

So, I think the only way that I'll be able to help you further is if you will upload the lot so I can take a look at it to see if I can find what is causing the issue for you.  If you would like me to do that, just upload the lot the Gallery and reply here with the lot name and your userid if it is different than what you use here (LilShaay).  Since this is a residential rental, I do need you to move the tenants out and sell the building so that it is unowned before you upload the lot for me to be able to test it fully.

    Hope this helps.

As for home unit, that is just something I found when googling my problems, I never found the setting so I don’t have much info on that. It shows the unit highlighted when I have my “cursor” over it but it doesn’t bring up the info box of the household like the others and when I click “a” it backs out to manage worlds again. All of the setting are the same for all apartments.
i had the same problem with my last apartment but luckily I had a second floor and was able to select the unit from there.

The second photo is the unit I’m trying to live in, it just has the green circle around the icon but I’m not able to click on the unit. The first photo is another unit on the lot that I am able to click on. It has the box above it giving the unit info, which doesn’t appear for my unit.

  • LilShaay  From the way you've described your issue, I'm not certain what it is really.  I realize you're on Xbox so taking a couple of pictures may be difficult for you, but they would certainly help me, and others understand what your problem actually is.  I have built and played a residential rental building with 6 apartments and have had no problem with accessing any of the apartments.  Four are on one level and two are 2 level.  And I have no idea what you mean by "home unit".   I have never seen that term used in relation to residential rentals or anywhere else in the game.  Are you talking about using one of the apartments for the building owner?

The only thing I can think of as to why you can't access the single-story apartment is that you haven't defined your apartments correctly.   You comment about settings also indicates that.   If you can take a pic of your settings, that would be helpful.  If you have set your apartments up correctly, you should be able to simply move the residents of any apartment in and out just like you move households in and out of residential houses.

And if you are willing, I am willing to take a look at your residential rental lot.  All you need to do is upload the lot to the Gallery and reply here with the lot name and your userid if different than what you use here (LilShaay).  I will download it and see if I can figure out what is going on with it.

    Hope this helps.

I am also worried that once I find a way to move them in, I won’t be able to play that household, because I cannot select that unit from manage worlds. And that is extremely disappointing because I just spent a week building this :(
