Gates and door locks not working...

Multiple times I've set my gates and locks to keep both animals contained and people out of my yard yet I still end up with animals, (chickens and goats) in my house and strange people in my fenced in yard (a stan and paparazzi.)

I'm on a Playstation 4 that is up to date as is the Sims game. I have no mods or CC as I'm on console.
