Gender bar is out of screen

Hey!

So i’ve had this problem for a very long time. Many many months, and haven’t found a solution to it but the sexual orientation/gender bar is out of the screen. I found one forum about this topic, but it had no solution and just a few people talking about it. I am a laptop user and so is my sister who is also having this problem. Just wanted to report it since i think this isn’t super common and a lot of people haven’t said anything about it. But basically I can change everything, but my sim’s woohoo preference.

I do not use mods

  • Hi bny4xx

It looks like the tabs are missing.

I switched my game to finnish to test this and it looks fine for me. As you can see, in your game the tabs have molded into one.

Does your sister have her own laptop or do you have the issue on the same game installation but different user profiles ?

Do did you try repairing the game yet ?

    Hey.

Thank you so much for responding!

So I just tried repairing my game, and it didn’t help. Also earlier tried switching my Sims 4 to english, but that also didn’t work.

My sister has her own laptop with her own EA account. She had a PC few months ago, and the problem didn’t occur then.

Anything else I can try? Or can EA somehow fix this problem within the next update?

    Hi bny4xx

very odd. Not sure what's going on. Have not seen this reported before. Since you are on a laptop, do you have laptop mode on ?

I have two suggestions you could try:

    Suggestion 1

    • Close the game
    • Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
    • Repair the game
    • Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry.
    • Start a new save game
    • Check if you still have the error
    • Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.

    Suggestion 2

Play around with the UI scale settings and your graphics settings and see  if that makes any difference.

    Hi crinrict !

Woah thank you for your help and sorry for taking so long, but renaming the Sims folder to _Old actually worked !!

But does this mean I have to start a completely new game?

    Hi bny4xx

You can now start to copy back things from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old to the new Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder that was created.

First only copy (I suggest to copy so you can go back in case anything goes wrong along the way) the content of the folder Saves (these are your save games). If you are prompted if want to overwrite a save, decide if you want to keep that testing save you just made or not. If not, just overwrite if, if you want to keep it, rename the save to a different number that isn't taken.

Test just your save game with nothing else added back. If that works, you can start copying back the rest. If not, check back.

You will need the following folders

    - Tray (your households and lots you have saved to library)- Custom Music (if you added any)
    - Screenshots (if you've taken any)
    - Videos (if you've taken any)
    - ConfigOverride (if you made any although I recommend redoing those)
    - Options(.ini) (although in your case I strongly  recommend to just redo your settings in the game)

All other files are recreated and not needed.
