Help: Custom skin tones not following through to live mode

Today I opened my game to find my sims’ skin tones darker than usual and other’s lighter than usual. After a very long time of trying to fix this, I realised that, in CAS, their skin tones were correct (for example, their skin tone is a brightened version of one of the regular sims 4 skin tone swatches) but, when I go into live mode, the sim is darker because the game just returned their skin tone to the original swatch colour (without any brightness variation). This has never happened to me before and I don’t believe it’s caused by broken mods/cc because when I run the game with an empty mods folder, the issue is still present. Also, none of my sims have tattoos/custom tattoos which I’ve heard has been causing issues lately. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you!

All of my sims (with the custom skin tone) changed unfortunately so it is all skin tones for me :( and creating a new one doesn’t fix it. Even when I open up past worlds I haven’t played in years, the issue is there. But yeah it seems that it’s just happening to me haha but thanks for your help!

  • Do you have this issue with this Sim only or did all of them change ? What about creating a new one, does it stick ? Is it every skin tone ?

I gave this a short test with three ladies. One all the way to the left, one all the way to the right and one left at default and they all look different in live mode as well for me. I choose the darkest for the neutral skin tones.

Yes, I do! So image 1 is what my sim looks like in CAS with the regular skin tone swatch but brightened (this is her actual skin tone). Image 2 is what she looks like with the brightened skin tone in live mode. Image 3 is what my sim looks like in CAS but with the regular skin tone swatch with no brightening or darkening. Image 4 is what she looks like with the unbrightened skin tone in live mode.

Clearly, it looks like she has the same skin tone in image 2 and 4 even though image 2 should be brighter. Therefore, my custom skin tones aren't following through to live mode anymore (and this is happening to all my sims not just this one). Hopefully this make more sense?

Hi! No, not cc (sorry for the confusion). You know how when you click a default skin tone swatch in CAS you can use the slider to make that particular swatch lighter or darker? That’s what I’m trying to describe, if that make sense?
