How do you have an attraction preference w/o turn ons/offs?

This attraction system is soooooo unnecessarily complicated. I put a few new sims in my game to provide options for other sims to date. These new sims do not have any turn ons/offs; yet, they have attraction preferences. How can you be "Very Unattracted" or "Extremely Attracted" to sims when you have no preferences?

My main sim has been dating another sim that finds them "Very Unattracted", yet they consistently have a "Very Satisfied" sentiment. Given the circumstances, even if I wanted to change things about my main sim, how would I know what to change??? Is there a way to work around this?

Also, something else along the same lines: my sims checked herself out in the mirror and found herself to be "Basic". Again, what's the criteria for this? How am I supposed change these things?

  • The attraction system uses more than likes or dislikes to determine the attractiveness of other sims.  Setting likes and dislikes only allows you to tailor or better tune things more to your liking.  From what I can tell, not setting them means that the game sees them all as equal and other things then take precedent in the attractiveness system.  I'm not sure what they all are though.  I think the traits you assign might be part of it but pretty sure that's not all.  Conversely, if you set too many things as either liked or disliked, that does pretty much the same thing.  I've found it seems to work better to only set a few for each sim.  Don't try to use the whole 50.  So, for things where a spouse becomes unattracted to their mate, go in and try to make likes and dislikes for the two sims match so they like the same things.  Also set the 2nd category for things like hair color and fashion too.  You just have to experiment a bit to get the attractiveness to change to what you want it to be.  Again, keep in mind, that if you set a lot of them one way or the other, you can end up with a lot of sims which become very attractive to your sim and vice versa.  Setting too few will make your search for that perfect mate harder as well and you will have fewer sims that are attractive to your sim.

    Hope this helps.

I'm going to complain with you, since the attraction my sims have been messed up. I was really looking forward to all of this and finally get the extension jusfor my one of my sims to think their partner is now negative. It was neutral at first, and then I modified the turns on and turns off, now she's completely unattracted to him. I then get rid of all of the turn ons/offs, still negative. I then select attributes that resemble him. Still negative. This is way more complicated than it needs to be and its wild that WW did it better first than EA

Turn-ons/turn-offs should be right next to the section in CAS where you can pick traits, likes and dislikes. If you own Lovestruck, there should be options to define what your Sim finds attractive in another Sim, like traits, colour of hair, fashion style, hobbies.
