HSY Feedback: Poor Programming Choice

I usually don't bother posting feedback on content I purchase because unless it's a glitch I feel like you made your choice and won't bother making any changes-- but I was thinking maybe, just maybe, feedback like this will make you  think through a little better in the next release so I guess I'll weigh in. Maybe others agree with me, idk.

There are some choices you make for programming the game that really do ruin the fun. I guess it depends on how people like to play but I bet I'm not alone in feeling that everything does not have to be a win/lose plus/minus challenge in the game; that's not how life works and that's not how sandbox/dollhouse games should work.

So in HSY I REALLY LOVED that people could walk up and ask our Sims to prom, or ask them to be BFFs, etc.... I got excited about this feature-- till I saw it in-game. Now I hate it.

There REALLY should be more choices than "of course" and "no way!!!" It's like you're forcing me to ruin a relationship with a Sim-- either I reject a Sim and make them hold a grudge against me, or I accept and make another Sim hold a grudge against me (my previous BFF, or prom date, etc.).

There should be a freaking way to let Sims down easily... "I would love to go to prom with you as friends but I'm sorry, I already have a date!" You have almost zero charisma skill in High School as it is and building up multiple relationships gets slow and time-consuming (unless you wanna spend all your time texting them on social bunny) and then it's all ruined in one go because the grudges last such a long, long time.

It's as bad as the Parenthood "advice" system which it's completely useless-- you can't give your kid good advice & get a boost, or bad advice and get a negative (rendering your parenting skills and the way you wish your Sim to parent their children useless); you HAVE to give them advice that ups one trait AND lowers another, rendering the whole system useless and just plain annoying. The minute I see "ask for advice" come up in their queue I'm trying to click it off because I can't even plead the fifth. It sucks.

It's not that these things weren't good ideas, it's the way you execute them that can interfere with the way some of us play the game, and it makes the feature more frustrating than fun. I'd rather the feature be executed in a way that is more natural and fun, again idk how many other Simmers out there might agree.

Okay just venting, that's just my 2 cents for what it's worth. Thank you if you listened at all.

  • Not the only reason I've decided not to buy either of these packs... but certainly played a role.

    Hi @PositivelySIMful,

Thanks for taking the time to explain your thought process on this, I can't promise that anything will be changed with this interaction system but I can and will forward this up to the Sims team on your behalf.

Generally, I wish we could disable all these pop-ups. I really hate it if my game pause for this *RPG* Phase. With Werewolf you got the tunnels, but these pop-ups are only there if you command your sims to explore it.

I disable the NPC-Ask-Question autonomy in the option, and lucky it works. For Parenthood I use mods to disable this *Feature* I really don’t like that I must pick an option. (Most chance cards don’t fit with my characters too) In vanilla it was once of my reason not to play much with children and teens.

The main problem here is you have two types of players. The type of player which don’t like that something can happen without their consent and the player which want more random & consequences. The vibe I got from team is they want to satisfied player *R&C* more and forget player *consent*. A look in my mod folder confirms this.

It’s got a little frustrated that with ever big update I now have the nagging question in my mind which unwanted action the team add now and how long takes to make a mod to remove it again.
