No, I created a sim and put him straight into regular residential lot, and then he bought a small business residential.
I'm curious if it is by design, because the other business was not going to be the same type (original business was a cinema/arcade, the business I wanted him to purchase was a cafe/lounge/night club venue)? Would love to find out. Had plans on him being a tycoon owning many entertainment style businesses.
HI gertie47
Bit unclear on the issue.
Would you be willing to share your save with me ?
If so, please zip your saves folder and upload it somewhere like dropbox, googledrive or OneDrive and PM me the link.

I ended up continuing with the save and different Sims purchasing and running that lot so that it won't mirror my problem anymore. (It is a save where I explored as much as possible in B&Hs and didn't want to get stalled on that problem.)
I began to wonder if it was by design?
But I can try to recreate it in a new save.

There are a couple of similar threads. Not sure what's going on so I wanted to see for myself cause it's usually easiest to see a problem in game.
I did try buying a second venue and didn't have any issues for me it worked as expected but that was in the very beginning so I will see if I can find some time next week to test again.

Hi gertie47
I'm still not sure I understand the issue.
You can only own one business per Sim. So if the Sim buys a second venue, it's the same business he already has and you open the business on either of the lots.
Multiple lots is basically to run different stores for your business.
The business is called differently in the save you sent me but I assume you just renamed it ?
So basically your Sim has one business called Ritz Entertainment and that is assigned to two lots. If you leave one lot, it closes on that and you can open it up on the other.
