Is there any way to cancel a detective case?

Does anyone know if there's a way to cancel a detective case? Since every time I issue an APB my suspect is not there at all, no matter how many times I issue one, even when the APB is at a place where it's not large, and they're still not there.

    @mossysapling It should be possible via testing cheats.

    Open the cheat console with ctl-shift-c then type testingcheats on. After that, right click on the Sim. There should be a detective menu where you can get a new case.

    Not sure if that one still works without mods though.
